OK, this is the first time I've actually been able to catch American Idol and I have some thoughts.

First of all, ICK! I can't believe that this is the best of the bunch! From the comments you guys are making, it sounds like some of the better performers were already ousted. Sad commentary on the public's taste in music? The results of music education being jerked out of our schools?

OK, I disliked the Scott guy as much as anyone, but it doesn't have anything to do with his weight. Jeez! His nasty attitude is bad enough, but both he and the blonde kid whose name I forget were just bad! They both have nice tones in their voices when they can sustain a note (assuming they hit the note), but that's all they have to offer. His delivery of "On Broadway" was OK, though, because he was able to play to those strengths and (sort of) hide his weaknesses. His other tune was awful, as were both of the songs the blonde kid did. How did these guys last this long?

I think the blonde girl was probably the best singer of the bunch based on the songs I saw tonight. She's got good pipes and hits the note pretty much all of the time. Nice job on the "growling" too. (A bit frozen and stiff, though, don't you think?)

After hearing her first song, I really wanted to root for the other woman (nice range!), but she was pretty far off on that held note in the second song, so I was disappointed. Has she been more consistently impressive in the past?

Call me cynical, but I think it's all fixed and they are going to pick the white rocker guy, Bo. It's a demographic they haven't popped yet with past winners (and their album releases), so I think the train has left the station heading that direction. And he was OK, I think. His first performance was better than the second. His control when he did "Heaven" wasn't that great--sloppy, really.

So, who's going to win? Surely the little blonde kid will be voted off this round! But who, of these last few should win? And you guys have seen a lot more of them than I have, so who deserves this?

I would guess that the reason that Scott is still in is because of the groundswell of support for websites like votefortheworst and such. Sure they've been trying to muck up the works since last year, but they've gotten a lot more airplay this year. I think a similar kind of thing happened with Nikki McKibbon from the first season.

I predict Scott makes it to the final three (unfortunately)!

Scott Savol is good for the show. He is the villain in this melodrama, and people will tune in hoping this will be the week he gets the boot. The show benefits from having a caustic contestant the same way it benefits from having caustic Simon Cowell.

He DOES look like a pig.  Totally.  I wouldn't be surprised if his parents actually snatched him out of some hog pen from a nearby farm.

Then you'll like these lovely pictures of Scott Savol taken after he assaulted his girlfriend (any resemblance to Pugsley Addams is purely coincidental):

I saw that pick before, it cracks me up.

Sadly (and I *hate* to admit this), Scott did semi well last night. My distaste for him has nothing to do with his weight. I loved Ruben and Kim from last season. I hate him b/c he's so full of himself, etc.

I do think that Carrie (the blond girl) is probably the best. I do like Bo a lot to....he's been performing on stage for a good portion of his life and has an awesome stage presence. I hate that "Heaven" song, but he did well in it. I'd love to see him do some Croce up there.

Vonzelle is actually fabulous as well. Last night was the first time I've seen her crack.

I think Anthony has a nice voice, but I feel that he has a lot of training ahead of him to learn how to control it better and learn his full potential. I think he's going to get booted tonight.

The other problem with Scott and Anthony is that they both stick to the same type of song. They don't venture at all. I think Scott singing Broadway last night was the most upbeat song he's sang all season.

I'm not so sure about the show being rigged internally (ie. via the network). Even if Bo doesn't make THE American Idol, I think he'll already have a recording contract with them. That seems to be the way American Idol has been working the past couple years anyway... Hell, even Josh Gracin and Kimbery Locke have records out.

Is there any way we could possibly vote off both Scott and Anthony?

They were both horrible last night(Anthony more than Scott.Sorry TAG)

But they both need to go.

Just a quick idea, wouldn't it be more accurate to call and vote for the person you want to vote off the show?

And why don't they have internet voting?

actually, my hubby and I were discussing the "calling to vote off" last night. He brought up a good point, if early on in the competition you notice that someone would be a good rival to your favorite, you could vote against him/her even though he/she wasn't necessaily the worst performance that night.

*sings* Scott's going home, Scott's going home....

I wonder if they just booted him off anyway b/c it was obvious that he sucked and there was that whole ordeal with the website. He clearly did better than Anthony last night, but on the otherhand...his ass should have been booted a long time ago.

I'm SHOUTING :excl: Scott won't be back after tonight :excl: Since the first eliminations I've been hoping it would be Scott. Watching him was worse than listening to him sing, but there's no way to separate the two in this type of competition.

I wonder if Pugsley -- er, Scott -- is going to take it out on his child's mother by beating her to a pulp when he gets back to Shaker Heights, Ohio. He could be in a hella foul mood.

Wow, I was afraid all the women out there who want a jerk would vote to keep him. Let's hope he doesn't go home and take his anger out on a girlfriend...

And WHO is voting for that Anthony kid? You wouldn't think the tone deaf would be such big fans of the show.

And as for the guy with the Paula Abdul stories, well, I think the show is using that as a publicity stunt too. It's all fixed as far as I'm concerned...

(too jaded to LIVE) :grr:

EDIT: Wow, chris319. That's exactly what I was thinking.

Hmmm....Steve26 and I revealed in the "Fake People" topic that we are actually the same person. Perhaps, given the similar thinking on his domestic abuse habits PLUS the "319" in common, we are secretly the same person too and pulling an elaborate (yet pointless) hoax on the LPSG gang?

What do you think?

(gotta know--why did you pick 319?)

Someone who gets this far in the competition should be able to get through a song without pitch problems. I do admire Anthony for overcoming his hardships, though.

Speaking of contestants, Bo Bice should be concealing that tacky tattoo on his chest instead of exposing it. Somebody get that boy a turtleneck.

You know the show is in trouble when you've seen an American Idol contestant before on another Fox show: COPS.

319 is my birthday, not my weight.

If one person were going to pose as two different people, simple logic dictates that you wouldn't want there to be anything in common between the two handles.

And I would NEVER put down that I'm 90% heterosexual :p

LOL! :D

I figured the 319 might be a birthdate; mine is an obscure song reference and I knew yours surely couldn't be the same.

So who's next to be thrown out? Anthony's luck can't last, right?

Anthony has got to go. There is such a huge gap between him and the other three in the competition. Bo,Vonzell and Carrie are all fantastic,so it's got to be Anthony.

I don't know about that. Little Anthony has a lot of fans who don't mind spending the entire hour voting for him.

I would not be too surprised if the Vonz goes next week.
