Pew poll: Rage against government - Tim Alberta - POLITICO.com

Mistrust of gov't among U.S. citizens has eclipsed 70%.

Trust is the most essential principle of any relationship - and it has all but evaporated between Washington and the American people.

Hopefully politicians will be held to higher standards of honesty and integrity starting in November.

    The current lot is pathetic.

Nothing will change in November. The same system that produced the current lot will simply produce another lot.
"Everybody complains about politicians. Everybody says they suck. Well, where do people think these politicians come from? They don't fall out of the sky. They don't pass through a membrane from another reality. They come from American parents and American families, American homes, American schools, American churches, American businesses and American universities, and they are elected by American citizens. This is the best we can do folks. This is what we have to offer. It's what our system produces: Garbage in, garbage out. If you have selfish, ignorant citizens, you're going to get selfish, ignorant leaders. Term limits ain't going to do any good; you're just going to end up with a brand new bunch of selfish, ignorant Americans. So, maybe, maybe, maybe, it's not the politicians who suck. Maybe something else sucks around here… like, the public. Yeah, the public sucks. There's a nice campaign slogan for somebody: 'The Public Sucks. Fuck Hope.'"

But I don't think the public just got 'stupider' in the last couple years. The fact is - the public has always been, for the most part, quite stupid.

But now the stupid public even knows that Washington sucks. That's sayin' somethin.

And exclude state and local government where most Washington politicians spring from? They don't just come here and become pod people. No the Public Sucks and they deserve what they get.

If you're going to site the poll behind this information please do so responsibly and completely.

According to the Pew Research Poll released today:

76% distrust the Government but interestingly 56% would like to see their children have a career in government and 70% think government is a good place to work.

You think maybe these people who participate in these polls might be idiots? Wait, here's more:

Of 2500 surveyed during March and April: The question posed was - Do you trust the Gov't to Do What's Right? 76% responded "sometimes/never" (please note the "sometimes")

The number of people who responded "always/most of the time" has risen 5%

Now here's the crazy part. When asked if the gov't should have control over the economy, 51% responded "bad idea" but WAIT!!! - when the very same numbnuts were asked if gov't should enforce stricter regulation of financial companies 61% responded "good idea"

Got another relevant Carlin-ism here, one of my favorite, favorite lines:

"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that"

A person may be smart, but PEOPLE are stupid...

He had some funny lines, but was a VERY angry man. I saw him live several times...

What can be said of another vacuous poll? Americans want what they cannot have, euro style cradle to the grave state support (SS, Medicare, etc.), but at a 10% (small gov.) tax rate.

In sociological terms, this is dead on.
