So I'm going to be taking a trip on Amtrak that will be about a 24 hour trip. It got me thinking it would be hot to find someone on Amtrak and have some fun. Anybody have any experiences? Or what is the atmosphere like on Amtrak during these trips? I know there is a small bar normally on the longer trips....

Interested in this as well.

Always had a hot fantasy of taking care of one of the (surprisingly hot/attractive) train conductors during one of our breaks.

Never really sure how to offer, or be suggestive enough though..!

You flirt with us the same way you would with anyone else. Trust me, lots of fantasies have occurred on Amtrak.....Yes there is always at the very least a cafe car that has drinks and refreshments....is it on Acela or Regional train?

During grad school, I travelled by sleeper train with my best friend and two women he was in an opera production with from New York through Chicago (the Lake Shore limited) to Seattle (Empire Builder) down to San Fran (I think it was called the Starlight or Coastal). The scenery was stunning, by the way, both in and outside the train. We ended up switching off the ladies, pretty much each night. It was a complete blast. Everyone knew it was all a temporary arrangement, the train setting made it romantic and gave it that frisson of sexiness. It was incredibly fun. (For the record, there were no three or foursomes during the trip, although both my buddy and I had separate threesomes with the ladies before we departed San Fran.)

Acela is the high speed train that only runs between Boston and DC so you definitely aren't on that. The acela makes less stops between Boston and DC than the regional. I don't know if there are some trains that make more stops than others outside of the northeast.

The train between Chicago and New Orleans is 18 hours or so from what I've heard. I'm sure there will be some how college guys who needs a little stress relief along the way.

Hopefully so :)

I love taking the train and have always wanted to... But I'm not great at the subtle art of picking gay guys out of a crowd and letting them know I'd be willing to mess around. Apps like GRINDR and SCRUFF depend on you both hitting the update button at the same second, otherwise the other guy(s) will constantly be 15-30-howevermany miles away from you. Then of course there's the problem of WHERE. Your options are either getting a room or using one of the handicap-accessible bathrooms. Rooms are great, but can be expensive and you're not sitting with everyone else in coach, so it can be harder to make eye contact. So... I know I'd be up for it, I've just never gotten past the logistics involved!

To answer your question, Acela trains are on the Northeast and I wasn't sure where you were traveling but have since read further down this thread. Acela is not all business class tho it does tend to attract a higher class of people because the fares are higher and trust me, it's worth the difference. You are probably on different type trains than I work here in the Northeast. Acela trains do have less stops and that saves time of course, and the speed is higher than that of regional trains in most areas. Regional trains are not quite as comfortable as the Acela trains and Acela for travel in the Northeast is the way to go. They are simply more beautiful trains vs the regionals and you will get to your destination a lot faster!

Oh, and Acela is all business class, but the regional is mostly coach with I think one business class car.

Actually I guess we were both wrong. I just checked the website and Acela is all business class except for a first class car in addition. Look at the page to book a ticket and your only options are business or first class. I definitely do agree the Acela trains are much nicer and faster and if I remember correctly they had bigger seats and wifi.

Last time I travelled from Boston to NYC was on an Acela train on a Friday evening and I ended up sitting at a table with a girl and two hot guys who happened to sit there also. The train was completely booked since it was a holiday weekend. The four of us ended up getting drunk on beers as we each took turns going to the cafe car and bringing back trays of 2 beers for each of us since the line was long. Too bad nothing ended up happening but it was fun nonetheless. I believe the Acela and Northeast Regional trains don't even have any private rooms so I guess the bathroom would be the only option. :/

If you have a sleeper car its easier as its more private. Otherwise, since its overnight, try to go to the bar/entertainment car and make some friends. You never know what you might find.

People get horny on Amtrak just like any other transportation system and use ways to enjoy that horniness....haha, just don't do anything that might be overly offensive to someone (jacking off near their face standing in the middle of the aisle and shooting cum on him/her while sleeping) or do something to get caught. That will end with you being kicked off at the next stop.

But late at night is your best bet.....a few people are up but not many and its pretty peaceful.
