If you like to read or if your intrested on neat facts about the earth. go pick up a copy of Guns,Germs, and steel: the fate of human societies by jared diamond (pulitzer winner) if you want to read it but cant find a copy or dont want to pay for it I found this site on google that has the book online for free.
This book explains a lot of things about why things are the way they are (did you know corn use to only be roughly 3-4inches long) good stuff very interesting.

Sounds interesting, but I dunno if I'd get it spontaneously.

A fascinating book, showing, among other things, how large a role chance plays in human history.
All Diamond's stuff is worth reading, imho.
