You missed my point. Did he make the statement because he truly believes the violence has reaching a breaking point, and he’s trying to come across as a “healer?” Or is he saying it because his advisors are telling him to, and he used the opportunity to take a swipe at trump? If he was being genuine in calling for peace, everyone would agree. He might win some Independents over (still might).
He didn’t go high. He went low, and basically lost some potential gain with the messaging because it comes across as a political jab. It’s almost as if he begrudgingly had to finally come out and make a statement (haven’t seen him say anything in public, or from the basement, but I may have missed it), and he interjected the jabs to take the attention off the delayed response.
