pffft. european governments are no more interested in freedom and personal liberty than bush & co are. government is ABOUT the destruction of freedoms and the wielding of power over others. nobody except psychopaths WANTS to do that in the first place ...

Are you an member of the autonomous movement ?

Freedom requires government action system to provide the conditions for individual freedom. Under this definition of freedom, one is only free if the government puts criminals in jail, ensures clean air, water, electricity and public transport systems. Also maintains a minimum wage and economic safety nets for the poor, provides education and healthcare etc. Positive freedom requires the pursuit of a minimum level of economic equality. In social policy systems, positive freedom requires the government to maintain order and social standards and libertiies. The government should encourage education for all, regulate pornography, homosexuality rights, abortion, and reduce crime!

To protect individual rights and avoid the "tyranny of the majority," and
one prefer freedom, quality and order, then we must tolerate an government system and decreased personal autonomy. People still need ruling as your probably know. And please do remember that UK isn't continental Europe....

Some good points here?

IN other posts there seems to be a lumping of the Republican Party and Christianity as one enitity. NOPE! Not so. There are millions of Christians who do not vote Republican and are very pro the government staying neutral in religious affairs. Some of the religious right are trying to convince people that if you are a Chrsitian you HAVE to vote Republican. That is pure unmitigated fertilizer.

the only movement I'm interested in relates to the healthy operation of my bowel. I dunno what an "autonomous movement" is. I can't stand politics.

Freedom requires government action system to provide the conditions for individual freedom.
balls. freedom requires nobody in a position of potential authority over you. there are no "conditions for individual freedom" than an individual cannot create themselves.

Under this definition of freedom, one is only free if the government puts criminals in jail, ensures clean air, water, electricity and public transport systems. Also maintains a minimum wage and economic safety nets for the poor, provides education and healthcare etc.
nah, you're getting freedom confused with security. they are diametrically opposed concepts. security requires systems, such as the ones you just described. freedom requires their ABSENCE.

To protect individual rights and avoid the "tyranny of the majority," and
one prefer freedom, quality and order, then we must tolerate an government system and decreased personal autonomy.

well, you can believe that if it makes you feel better. personally I'm waaay happier living in my condemned hovel, 20,000 leagues under the "poverty line", and doing exactly as I please, than I would be earning money and obeying laws in the name of "order" or a social system.

"to live outside the law, my dear, you gotta give a damn."
