"If convicted on the terrorism charges, he would face a maximum of 21 years in jail, police said."

92 people dead and only 21 years....what the hell?

Although I hate this lunatic for what he has done, I am still glad that no one can be sentences to death here in Scandinavia.

There is a clause in the Norwegian penal law that allows for indefinite prolonging of the original sentence in extreme cases. I am willing to bet all my worldly belongings that this will be enforced in this case.

    I hope so.
I don`t believe in the death penalty and it should be abolished all around the world.
I think Belorussia is the only European country with the death penalty.

They just said terrorism charges, maybe that 21 years doesn't include what he'll get for the murder charges.

21 years is the maximum sentence lenght in Norway, with the aforementioned exception that the person could be further detained if he/she is still deemed to be a risk to the public.

These are the worst spree killings in history. If he serves anything less than life in prison, there will be a public outcry unlike anything ever experienced. Actually, I think he would prefer life in prison over the revenge he is sure to be facing if he gets out after 21 years.

I was quite shocked when I heard this news. My heart goes out to all Norwegians and to the royal family. It's one thing to try to change the politics in one's country, but it's another story when one murders innocent people-- it's unacceptable and barbarous.

Since he murdered so many children, I wonder how long he will last in prison?

This is such an awful thing. Those families will never recover. Odd enough, the night before this attack, I had watched the Indy film "Gods Children." It seemed almost like a sick extension of these extremist view points put forward by this murderer. I fear this is not the last of these attacks in the world. My heart goes out to my Norwegian cousins across the globe.

Yet another sicko psychopath who acted under the influence of dangerous hate based bigoted ideology, mixed with dreams of ethnic cleansings and so-called cultural purity. For every one nut-job such as himself who actually carries an act of terrorism and violence upon innocent victims, how many hundreds more entertain similar ideology??

Upon hearing of this tragic event I also found myself thinking about those self righteous politicians in the Senate hearings on TSA screening procedures - those assholes who suggested that screenings be confined to passengers who "fit the profile" of a would-be terrorist. WTF???

So, again, what is a terrorist supposed to look like???
