A YouTube search of Dawson's "real name" results in a video of an award that he won for community service. I would propose that his acceptance speech reveals an underlying motive that many rarely discuss among G4P performers. He noted that he faced a lot of social rejection as a child due to a speech impediment. It is not a far leap to infer that being complimented on his body must have been especially meaningful for a man who faced such early condemnation. In fact, trying to please a charismatic producer who accepted and admired him, must have been the perfect recipe for creating a porn star. Men who were once scary and mean suddenly approved of his body and encouraged him to do more. It didn't matter that he didn't see himself involved with men in an intimate relationship in the future, because the adulation made him feel good.

One is never certain if these ongoing questions are just a way to engage others on this board, or if there are still people nieve enough to not know how sexual identities are formed, but I hope this alternative explanation, written with good intentions, explains some of the reasons that straight men get fucked on video for relatively small rewards.

Again, hard to know if this is an attempt to engage or willful ignorance of how biology and porn work because we are watching 20 minutes of sex that took hours to shoot, with a director telling them what to do, and an editor making it look spontaneous. These weren't actual college men who just happened upon a room with perfect lighting, a permanent hardon, and well-shaved pubes.

Nobody ever questions the sexuality of female porn stars who are regularly depicted engaging in acts that would usually be ascribed to lesbians. In fact, a woman that I met who acted in porn, (and was married to a G4P actor), noted that she was far less comfortable and experienced in oral sex with women, yet it was often assigned as an introductory role for women in the industry because porn is not real.

A person's inability to see beyond their own experience demonstrates a lack of capacity for empathy which is not a trait to be proud of, so it puzzles me why so many persist in this point of view in these discussions.

It's a very layered thing. I've known countless women & girls who are or could be perceived as predominately heterosexual who have bragged about or spoken openly about sexual experiences with other women but I've never met or known a predominately straight guy who has spoken openly(in mixed company or otherwise) about having gay experiences. However probably 80 percent of the guys I've hooked up with over the years have claimed they were straight. It's a double standard that will always exist at least in this lifetime. It's patriarchal. We live in a society...
