My first job in entertainment was on The Andy Williams Christmas Special (I can't post a link sorry... I was too young) He was a very nice man and very professional. RIP Mr. Williams. Thanks again for giving me my first break!

I was only looking at his photo on the internet a day or two ago, thinking about the entertainers who use appear on the tele when we were kids and the few that are still with us... He gave a number of famous artists their first breakthrough into the bigtime on his show.

Thank you for the good memories Andy Williams.

As a kid in the sixties, my grandad's favourites were Andy Williams, Perry Como and Harry Secombe. So I grew up appreciating their fine voices alongside the contemporary "cool" stuff of the time.

I've just heard "Happy Heart" played on the radio in tribute to the late AW. What a joyous song - brought back so many memories of Sunday teatimes at my grandad's.

Farewell to a fine singer. RIP.

In the last 20 years, his headquarters was the Moon River Theater in Branson, Mo., the capital of Red State entertainment. Williams sang to older, rural, conservative audiences, and he shared their political views. Williams couldn’t stand Barack Obama, as he made clear to the British newspaper the Telegraph. (Williams was extremely popular in the U.K., where he was idolized as a classic lounge singer.)
“Don’t like him at all,” he said, “I think he wants to create a socialist country. The people he associates with are very Left-wing. One is registered as a Communist. Obama is following Marxist theory. He's taken over the banks and the car industry. He wants the country to fail.”

^ Whilst he was a life-long Republican he was also a close friend of Robert Kennedy.I don't let political views get in the way of appreciating someones art but that's a discussion for another thread.
There was a rumour that he would play the Sunday afternoon slot at Glastonbury a couple of years ago where singers such as Johnny Cash,Neil Diamond,Shirley Bassey and Paul Simon have had a good reception.I guess his health wasn't up to it.
