well a short story by annie proulx called brokeback mountain is being
made into a big blockbuster mainstream hollywood movie! the catch
it's ubber gay and quite graphic! so this could be it for the gay community,
acceptance in pop culture or atleast the beginning of it. Imagine jake gylenhaal
and heath ledger going at it annie proulx style!

but it's going to be pretty hard to "straightify" :lol: that story! i mean the
whole story revolves around the deep connection between these indviduals?
without that what else would there be? beside i have faith in ang lee(director)!

Well, as of today, Ang Lee is saying that he is going to "back off" the sexuality and homo overtones! He stated that "two men herding sheep is sexier than two men making love"...sigh. He also stated he may cut even the M2M kiss. Big SIGH.

Can you say "COP OUT"? If they didn't have the balls to make this film in a manner at least somewhat resembling the book, I wish they would not do it at all. Most actors wouldn't do a gay sex scene anyway. (Remember the SNL sketch when the audience all thought Lucy Lawless was gay?) Actually, many actors won't do a sex scene regardless of the parts of the other participant. And besides which, male nudity itself is a taboo, so you can figure gay sex is too.

And yeah, I agree, it's a cop out.
