There has been 'talk' for months, mostly rumour of course, but the last few days have seen Vejjajiva's regime unspool at an increasingly worrying pace.

Protests all week culminating in today's state of emergency in and around the capital (the second in a few months) ... urgent [don't] travel advice ... troops on the streets ... gunfire around a failed 'attack' on the PM (he wasn't actually in his car) ... one has to wonder where it may lead.

Perhaps not a coup, but ...

What's the background of the red team and yellow teams?

So far I can only figure out that the red team is some sort of workers party and seems to be the larger and more vocal. The yellow team seems to be in favour of the present govt, appars to be smaller but more organised and ruthless.
