Amidst all of the Thanksgiving celebrating and the overdose of college football, apparently someone thought it would have been a good idea to try and set off a car bomb during a Christmas tree lighting in Oregon. Feds: Somali-born teen plotted car-bomb attack in Oregon's biggest city | StarTribune.com

To add to the confusion, Raw Story reports that the incident could have been instigated by federal law enforcement. FBI apparently set up US teen blamed for fake car bomb | Raw Story

As much as I'm liking the idea that our federal agents are becoming more aware of terrorist plots and can stop them before they happen, I sincerely hope they are not getting dangerously close to possible entrapment in order to find the culprits. Thoughts?

1st, the iidea that the Feds are into entrapment is nothing new, they've been that way since before J.Edgar Hoover put on his 1st red leather dress.

2nd, with this development, they'll be calling for random scans and strip searches at rest stops, intersections and K-Marts since we are all iin terrble danger.

3rd, this shows that terrorist attacks aren't merely made in airplanes abd that safety is never a guarentee.

4th, let's return to the old standard way where "if you see something that seems out of place or unusual, report it."

lucky8: There's already two other threads about the TSA. Let's not have this one diverge into that direction, please?

We don't have to make it about the TSA, but the discussion would be relevant. You can't kill ideas, and 'terrorism' is just that, an idea. The only way to eliminate the threat is to eliminate freedoms, and that still won't do it. In all likelihood the consequences of such actions will spur more hatred, thus provoking more anti-American sentiment. Shit happens. People die. I can't even imagine what's to come if a mall ever gets bombed. Body scanners galore probably
