So I'm in the kitchen cooking tnite and I was playing albums. In my collection I found a Phyllis Diller lp I forgot I had. It was still unsealed so I cracked that lp open and gave it a spin. I was using my Crosley repro suitcase turntable...not Mr Monster floor model....It was hysterical if not a bit dated. I had started a Phyllis thread before and yes she is the queen of female stand-ups and then I thot about Joan as she's had alot of press w/her docu lately......I think this clip is cool!

It was Are You Ready For Phyllis Diller...I think it was her first...on the Verve label no less...the jazz label.

The one I have is "Born To Sing".
You have to hear Phyllis sing "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction". It's one of life's more sublime experiences...

I just spent an hour going through those videos. Comedy is my absolute favorite!! Joan was funny, but Phyllis was one of a kind. The best!!

And just before Phyllis and Joan, there were the equally hilarious Moms Mabley and Rusty Warren recordings that I found in my dad's somewhat eclectic and curious collection, assuming anyone can remember that far back.

Yes I have Rusty's records and Moms too as well as Belle Barth. I love that Rusty released her records on colored vinyl!
