I had three anti-muslim incidents today. Bloody guy turned left from the middle lane at the traffic stop this morning. At lunch the kabob was over-cooked, and one of my workers broke his finger using the table saw and is off for a week at least. Time for a little jihad ala Vincent.

In my hopes, right body, wrong anatomical particular.
I found, with kindness and consistency, that you could get great results, vince. Try them—you might like them. Aga is a precious being.

Troglodytes. Note the observations at the end.

Two Muslim women attacked in Tampa (WTSP, 11 Dec. 2015)

We're learning about attacks on two Muslim women, right here in the Tampa Bay area. Their attorney says one of the women was shot at, and another one was nearly driven off the road -- both because of their Muslim faith.

The women were targeted as they were leaving the places where they worship, according to the Florida chapter of CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

An attorney from CAIR says the women were leaving mosques and wearing scarves over their heads -- a traditional Muslim head covering called a hijab.

Thursday, a woman's car was shot at as she left a mosque in eastern Tampa, about a mile from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, CAIR Florida director Hassan Shibly told me.

And over the weekend, a woman reported a man cutting her off and throwing stones and other things at her as she drove away from a mosque in New Tampa. . . .

Analysts and experts say the kind of anti-Muslim attacks reported in Hillsborough County this week are literally exactly what ISIS wants.

Because ISIS has only a few thousand people, and almost all of them are on the other side of the planet, this is their strategy:

Create a divide between Muslims and non-Muslims in America, with the hopes that some Muslims will feel isolated and fed up enough to turn to radical Islam, then attack.

This is precisely the kind of thing I alluded to in another thread when I spoke of the effects of marginalization, disparities, and disenfranchisement. Though in this case there are religious elements (or more accurately, SOME people's interpretation of such) thrown into the mix, and which, in turn, contributes to the radicalization process, as it ALSO does when people of ANY faith interpret it in ways that justify despicable acts against one's fellow man.

So YES, nothing plays MORE into the hands of those who wish to employ hate division and discord to their OWN advantage than the exclusion, demonization, and isolation of an entire sect of people, based upon stereotypes and the actions of a FEW.

What about the massive surge in Muslim anti-non-Muslim incidents?
Ya racist hypocrites.
The number one instigator of violence in the world is Islam; stoning homosexuals, crucifying Christians, beheading non-believers, ...
For well over 1000 years Islam has been a scourge on society. Islam's bloodlust and centuries of slaughter is what brought about the Crusades. There are now *some* modern Muslims that disregard the violence... however, the majority worldwide embrace it.

All of which right wing Christians are advocating for today. Ted Cruz accepted two endorsements - one the man called for death to all homosexuals, and another who helps pay for te defense of murderers who kill abortion providers because it should not be a crime.

How long before we see a new kristallnacht in American cities?

"We're going to be looking at that and many other things."
"bad things are happening."
"We're going to have to do things we never did before, things that we never thought would happen in this country in terms of information and learning about the enemy."

How long?

Armed 'Three Percenters' Movement Now Confronting Muslim Americans
They are known as "Three Percenters," followers of a movement that has rallied against gun control efforts nationwide, patrolled the U.S. border with Mexico and recently begun confronting Muslim Americans.

Followers describe themselves as armed "patriots." But some of their leaders have been blamed for threats and vandalism against lawmakers, police and Muslims. One prominent member from Phoenix prompted an FBI alert in November after posting an expletive-filled Facebook video saying he was headed to upstate New York with guns to challenge a Muslim group. A Three Percenter in suburban Dallas led a mosque protest by armed, masked men that same month.

Texas has been the scene of several other incidents this year that have raised anti-Muslim unease. Two Muslim gunmen in May were shot outside a Prophet Muhammad cartoon contest in Garland. Police in Irving arrested a 14-year-old Muslim whose teachers thought his homemade clock was a bomb in September.

All this comes at a time when Texas has led a number of states trying to block the resettlement of Syrian refugees and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump called for a "complete shutdown" of Muslims entering the U.S.

"We will interfere with every move they (Muslims) make towards taking over our country," Dallas protest organizer David Wright said in response to questions the Associated Press sent to his personal Facebook page. "We are ready to fight back if they come at us violently."

A few from today, from various parts of the country (all articles from Raw Story, 13 Dec. 2015).

After terror attacks, Muslim women say headscarves have made them targets for harassment

Minnesota man charged with firebombing Muslim-owned restaurant — and police can’t find him

Ohio seventh-grader threatened to use dad’s gun to shoot Muslim boy he called ‘son of ISIS’

"But the irony is they think they're being tough on ISIS and Trump thinks he's being tough on ISIS. Senator Rubio in his interview with you touched on it very, very lightly. Donald Trump is, in effect, the Recruiter-in-Chief for ISIS. ISIS wants nothing more right now than to have the world divided into Judeo-Christian on one side and the Islamic world on the other. That's exactly what Trump is doing for them. I think it's time we start with thinking about what ISIS wants and then not doing it." (Ted Koppel on Meet the Press, 13 Dec. 2015)

Yeah seems like a whole group of people are dead set on starting a holy war.

According to a friend of mine, a die hard rightwinger whom I argue with regularly about this type of stuff, the religious war has already begun and has been raging for some time. It's just that one side refuses to acknowledge it as a war based in religious ideology. Her case being that it's not Christianity VS Islam exactly. It's western ideology VS Islamic fundamentalism. How the west believes society should function VS how the Quran says society should function. I don't do particularly well with arguing this point. She doesn't go as far as Trump, but does support the idea of spying on mosques and not taking in refugees. This point is easy to argue. Well... easier...

Looking at all the events Calboner compiled, it seems like today's Islamophobia has nothing to do with religion. It looks much like the sort of anti-other violence that has been inflicted on Native Americans, Blacks, Mexicans, Japanese, Jews, etc. throughout US (and world) history.

Weren't these other cases of exclusion and violence also propped up by stories about the strange beliefs and practices of whatever group was the target, and assertions that they were incompatible with American life?

Ask her what she means by "Western Ideology "..
Can't be Capitalism and Materialism, can it?
Didn't the ideas of Western Ideology come from Christianity in the first place?
The Catholic Church was the original Global Corporation.
Then the WASP's created something called "The Protestant Work Ethic"
Why does the west have an Ideology and Islam have Fundamentalism? Aren't they kinda the same thing?

That's a good point. I think most Islamophobes are shit-ignorant about Islam and tend to get the categories of "Arab" and "Muslim" (as well as "brown person") confused with each other.

The differences being things like gender equality, killing people because they are gay in not cool, sex slaves are a no no, free speech and freedom of the press are good things, honor rape is not something to be allowed, 9 years old is not an appropriate age to marry nor become sexually active, the idea that a woman's word is only worth half that of a man's (while good in theory..j/k) is not acceptable, etc... This list is pretty long. Common place ideals of non-Islamic countries that are not only alien concepts in cultures run under sharia, but are against the perceived will of god.

Should probably mention that I don't believe Islam to be religions of peace, but rather a religion of conquest that just hasn't had much luck in a few hundred years. And that "moderate" is just a nice way of saying heretic. My views on Christianity and Judaism aren't much different. I've said before that you can justify almost any horrible act by the faithful with multiple verses from their various holy books.
