I don't condone any destructive dogmas from any religion but I will say that Muslim countries or majority Muslim countries have elected plenty of female heads of state including Pakistan, Senegal, Turkey, Bangladesh, and Indonesia to name a few. That's something to look up to here in the States. We have to be careful about how we paint cultures other than our own. If we were to judge ourselves by our or most bigoted, least tolerant, religious zealots, we wouldn't look very good either. The differences being things like gender equality, killing people because they are gay in not cool, sex slaves are a no no, free speech and freedom of the press are good things, honor rape is not something to be allowed, 9 years old is not an appropriate age to marry nor become sexually active, the idea that a woman's word is only worth half that of a man's (while good in theory..j/k) is not acceptable, etc... This list is pretty long. Common place ideals of non-Islamic countries that are not only alien concepts in cultures run under sharia, but are against the perceived will of god.
Should probably mention that I don't believe Islam to be religions of peace, but rather a religion of conquest that just hasn't had much luck in a few hundred years. And that "moderate" is just a nice way of saying heretic. My views on Christianity and Judaism aren't much different. I've said before that you can justify almost any horrible act by the faithful with multiple verses from their various holy books.

You're way too defensive. I'm not arguing with you.Did I say women in such countries did not hold political office? Or even hint at the idea? I will thank you to not misrepresent what I post to make a counter point to something I did not say. I did say that a woman's word is worth only half that of a man's based on religious grounds aka the perceived will of god. While this does apply to female politicians as well, in several Islamic nations, they are still allowed to speak on issues. It's just that it would take the voices of two women to just match only one of their male counter parts. And just as in the States, men greatly out number women in such positions. So they are easily over-ruled.
