I don't see a real difference when both can transmit the virus.
The difference is literally life and death. A person who is HIV+ can live a long and healthy life. A person who as AIDS has a statistically shorter life span.
I beg to differ on your statement...I was diagnosed with full blown AIDS with a T-cell count of 50.....that was 20 years ago....today my T-cell count floats between 218 and 300..viral load in undetectable.....
Besides a person can NOT transmit AIDS to another person. Only the HIV virus get transmitted.
oh nothing to worry about he's just simply HIV+, I see.
I wonder why we assume every man doing unprotected gay porn has AIDS, but those straight actors can bareback all they want and we dont even think about it

Personally, I'm never going to normalize HIV any more than I would herpes, venereal warts or alcoholism. These are complications that I want to avoid in this lifetime.
It means "treat it like it's no big deal." Just because you don't die instantly from it anymore doesn't mean it's not still a bad thing to catch it. Frankly the idea that too many people have these days that they don't need to worry about having safe sex because if they catch HIV they'll "just go on the drugs" is just terrifying.
Yes, it's great that HIV+ positive people can still live full lives and not die in their 30s anymore. But it does mean that your life is forever changed. It affects every aspect of your life - health, finances, relationships, employment, everything - and to pretend it doesn't just to maintain a happy front is a lie.
.
It never ceases to amaze me that people assume just because you bareback means you will be HIV+. Two people who are HIV- can fuck till the cows come home and not become +. do some reasearch guys!
First, I did not mean to intimate that HIV was not a big deal- I only meant to say its not nearly as big of a deal as AIDS is. I've been HIV+ for over 6 years now, and am the healthiest I've ever been- in fantastic shape. HIV is no longer a death sentence if you take care of yourself. You seem to want to stigmatize HIV+ people and make them like lepers.

I mean, it's just as common in straight people as it is gay people.
