Hi everyone, I suffer from extreme anxiety and was wondering if any one experiences the same? Sometimes I'm so anxious I can barely leave the house.

I suppose because I'm still young(ish) and was bullied a lot, beaten up for being gay I guess as a result anxiety has manifested from it.

If you suffer from anxiety, do you have any tips to deal with it? I don't take drugs, but I will be honest I do often drink to mask my anxiety and help with my social life. I also have valium from my doctor but I don't like to take it as I don't want to get addicted - plus I want to be a normal person without taking drugs.

Sometimes I think about suicide, I don't wanna be like this anymore.

I don't have any answers for you. I have mild anxiety, I have many other issues I deal with that make me pretty depressed to, knowing that I am not, nor ever will be, a normal person. And I know how much it hurts with all these "positive thinkers" who think they are helping but only highlight how different you are and how much you don't fit in.

All I can offer is warm feelings and hope and just hang in there. Forget about wanting to be normal, be who you are and find what works for you. Know everyone else out there who thinks you are the one with a problem themselves have problems. You re finding solutions.

I'd suggest you get professional help with strategies/tactics to manage your anxiety/PTSD.

If your doctor doesn't give you solutions you are happy with, find another doctor. I'd suggest finding a gay doctor and therapist.

Suicide is not an appropriate way to address something that will pass in time. While your past may have been shit, there is plenty of time to get beyond the effects of the past and live a fulfilling life.

I agree with Brodie - try to see someone, professionally, to talk things through. Suicide is NEVER the answer. Remember that above all else. "This too shall pass" may sound cheesy, but it's true. It doesn't sound like my experience was quite the same, but I used to suffer from social anxiety due to similar reasons. It would flare up at the most random of times, often illogically. For me, I just got past it. I know that's not always the case for everyone, but I would definitely suggest trying to find a gay therapist to help you overcome/manage those anxieties. Hugs, buddy!

If your anxiety is as mad as you say you need to see a specialist. There is no advice someone can give you because you problem stems from within. Best bet would be to seek out help and being completely honest with yourself. Anxiety, addiction and suicidal thoughts are not subjects you should take lightly. If you can’t find help, you will have to reflect on your triggers, and process any sort of trauma you have.
