If that's directed at me, I already read mostly foreign papers. As for learning another language, I guess Im competent in spanish; but I refuse to learn anymore. It has nothing to do with being American. It has everything to do with having inherited the Anglo-Saxon tongue and its inability to master any language other than English.

Learning is more of a question of attitude than ability; it has little to do
with the socio-economic and cultural backgrounds of individuals.

Again, when you assume you make an ass of you and me...well, mostly you.

I've been to every continent except Antarctica and yes, Canada really does suck. Whenever I go visit my cousin who lives there, the place gives off a weird feeling of complete and utter mediocrity and vulgarity. Some of the people I met claimed they "didn't hate Americans like every other Canadian" and how much they "loved" black people. :eyes: I also noticed that your local media are saturated with America's influence. Does that have anything to do with your opinion?

He lives in Montréal anyway, not Toronto. Toronto's where the "we love black people" thing comes in.

Titan,

It's not a matter of not caring.

God helps those, who help themselves.
The US can't spend Billions of dollars saving the world.

Who saved the US during the Great Depression?

When you mow your grass, do you mow all the neighbors lawn's down the road?
After all...it is your neighborhood, and they haven't gotten to it yet.

You'll spend all your time helping the world, but your own back yard is neglected.
You won't get your trees trimmed, weeds pulled, or anything fertilized for the winter months.

America has an agricultural backbone, which later developed into an auto one.
BUT...the old Farm mentality kicked in.

You Fill your own silo's first...THEN if you have extra grain, you share it with the neighbors.

I will be the first to admit that Americans don't think about the outside world as much most other countries do.

No kidding! Many Americans also know very little about their neighbour to
the North. 'Is Toronto the capital of Canada?', 'Who is your Prime Minister?', 'I just love your French money!'. :grr: Ignorance and indifference are bad qualities.

Get out of your bubble! Read up on what is going on in the rest of the world, read foreign papers, learn another language. Knowledge is power!

There is more to this world than imports/ exports and natural resources.

- there are lots of starving christians in Africa that god ignores, i think the old 'god helps those...' is just a saying that wealthy greedy people tell each other as to not feel guilty that they'd rather have their billions kept in a bank where noone will ever use them for anything good or bad than to help their fellow humans

They'll loan it out. If you have enough money to pay them back right now.

Not really. In fact a problem with Americans is that they buy houses they can't afford with loans all the time. It's a gamble that the home will continue to go up in value and they'll turn a nice profit. That being said, it's an increasingly stupid gamble.

Ah yes, the Quebecois. I thought the general consensus was everyone just hates them because they're French.

Last time I went to Montreal, I saw one of these wack Quebec separatists, marching around in a Quebecois military uniform and he had a Quebec flag attached to his ass. I find their pathetic attempts at some kind of identity completely idiotic on the verge of being comical.

But then again the core of the whole live8 thing was to create AWARNESS.
and I guess it even happened here on a website for large penises.

Mission Accomplished.

Wow! Africa has a problem? I didn't know that, cause I've been hiding in an ice cave with earmuffs on in Antarctica for the last 24 years. Thanks for the info
Live8! Jeez. This thing isn't about awareness, it's about Bob. His music career
never really took off and its a sad attempt to spark up the glory days of band aid
and get him some fame with a new generation.
The major problem is all of his efforts have little to do with Africa being shown ways to help itself. Just pouring money into a bottomless hole.

Yeah, at least get the regional stereotypes right. Or I'll have Nunavut. (That's cold.)
