Why in the US is the word 'liberal' as something evil?

Because for years conservatives have been careful to utter the word liberal only in the company of adjectives such as: unethical, unAmerican, immoral, radical, untrustworthy, corrupt, cowardly, lazy, inefficient, illogical, bizarre, unhealthy, weak, elitist, socialist, etc.

The strategy of redefining the word liberal in such a context worked amazing well. Who would want to be identified with a cause described as such?

You forgot: The liberals control the courts, even if the Rehnquist court has even delivered non-precedential (e.g., we'll do it this way this time and only this time) rulings in favor of Bush.

Proof again that freepers aren't really conservative: I've heard them bitch about the problems with stare decisis and "activist judges", never mind that stare decisis basically tells the courts to be consistent thus preventing said activist judges.

Most of us are afraid of touch screen ballots with no paper trail. (Oh, and for reference, paper ballots are moer ergonomic than touch screens.) Sworn testimony from Diebold employees showed that they corrupted the votes before the votes could be counted. And I'm waiting for one of these neocons to mention exactly what the problem with the exit polls was. If it's simply a small number, they should scatter around the actual results, rather than predict a Kerry win. As for over-representation, it's been proven that white males were disproportionately represented in the exit poll.

The sad thing is, Kerry was the conservative candidate this time around. Bush is a fuckin' fruitcake!

I think I read that 150% of registered Republicans turned out in Nevada. Now, I know they're enthusiastic, but that's a bit much. Despite rather obvious election fraud TWICE now, we are still tolerating this bastard in office. WHY??

Being the skeptical asshole I am, I'm beginning to wonder if Kerry wasn't actually working FOR bush, being not quite good enough to take the election in a landslide... he sure gave up awfully quick, despite loud accusations of election fraud, especially in Ohio where it could have very well changed the results.

I've thought as much too. And now moderate (e.g., not neocon) Republicans are being exiled to Siberia or whatever. I'd prefer to be exiled to Iberia; I've always wanted to run with the bulls in Pamplona.

I will say, though: I grew up in one of the more blue sections of a red state. Russell Means might've run as a Republican, but he's certainly good at energizing Democrats.

On the plus side, we'll all have an interesting story once we die.

Dead guy #1: How'd you die?
Dead guy #2: Cancer. How'd you?
Dead guy #1: Ran over by a bus. How about you?
Dead guy #3: I died in the APOCALYPSE! It was awesome! Blood gushing everywhere, a lake of fire, leprosy breakouts . . . Dude! You should've been there! (Unzips vest to show "Four Horsemen" T-shirt, in the same format as rock tour T-shirts.)

(I know, the fundie interpretation of the Apocalypse of St. John the Divine is heretical, and they don't even get the sequence of events right. I think I'll create a sardonic Four Horsemen iron-on though.)

Great, I'll be first in line to buy one to iron on my slight-too-small-and-too-lowcut t-shirt, proof positive that I was "in on it" from the beginning.

Actually, I can't take credit for the idea of an Apocalypse shirt. I actually got the idea from the old Serdar Argic T-shirts, commemorating the greatest ('great' meaning large or immense; we use it in the pejorative sense) spammer of all time.
