Hi, just wondering if there are any older guys on here who have enlarged prostates with the accompanying urination difficulty and have been persuaded to have, or elected to have the Trans-Urethral Prostate Resection surgery. I ask because my own prostate enlargement, (four times normal size) is causing problems which included an urgent visit to hospital recently. This involved being catheterised for a complete bladder blockage, and a two day stay. My urologist has been trying to persuade me to have the TURP operation for some years, but I'm resisting it because I don't want to live with the 60 to 70% chance of suffering retro-grade ejaculation for the rest of my life. Feeling myself and watching myself shoot my load is one of the biggest pleasures in life. At the moment, I'm on medication, (Tamsulosin) to try to avoid the operation, I've got no idea whether its doing any good, but within two days of starting to take it, I'm suffering the side effect of the retro-grade ejaculation which is a serious downer. I'd like to stop taking it just to be able to shoot my load properly again, but it might lead to another blockage, and I don't want to risk that again.
If anyone here has been through the TURP procedure, I'd be interested to hear your experiences and to hear any advice. Thanks
