Seriously?! After a certain point and I'm not sure what age that is, virginity takes on mythic proportions. It becomes that persons Red Badge of Courage, I don't think that's healthy for men or women.

I'm not a guy but I do have two female friends who waited for the one and we all thought they were both a bit touched in the head. They both married the first man with whom they had sex. This was when both had finished masters degree programs. So they were in their mid to late 20's. Only one of the two regrets not having anything else to compare her husband to, not sure what thats about because he is an all around great guy.
It should be noted these women did not marry virgins.

Do I recommend going to a prostitute just to "git her done?" NO! But I think the sexually active men can attest that the real thing beats a hand job any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I lost my virginity to a woman at 19 (only had oral sexual experiences with guys before then). At that time I thought of myself as the worlds biggest loser because in my confusion about my sexuality I gave up the opportunity to bang a ton of girls in High School. I no longer have that regret; infact I am glad I waited until the time was right for me. Do not let stupid societal expectation pressure you; you will now when the time and right and you are ready.

I am still a virgin at 45. I am too shy and afraid of STD's for a one night stand. Sometimes I am tempted to look for a one night stand just to prove to myself that I am a real man. I just can't do it though...to afraid and shy.

I am looking for a long term relationship and until I find the right woman I guess my hands will be busy.
I have the utmost respect for your post.. thank you for sharing.

Hung was a virgin until twenty-five and he enjoyed His First Night with a Wife.

Up until that time, the Hand Job was O.K. but I can testify that viginal intercourse is simply the best.

Now regards waiting. I think it was and still is worth waiting for. Sounds old fashioned, yes.

- Grrrr, I'm sorry Siebie and the rest of his supporters and sympathizers, but this thread is starting to annoy the shit out of me.

- The fact you list yourself as 50%/50% is key. I think you are undecided who to fuck first for fear you will have to stick with that decision for all eternity. That's just not so. It is acceptable and normal to have both if that is what you desire.

- Hung, you are 66, you came of age during a time when a well dressed man still wore a fedora.

- Gladwyn is correct

:soapbox:

Yup, I am getting on my soapbox. As you may have already guessed this thread struck a raw nerve.

I don't own a violin so I can't join this particular mutual admiration/pity party. I do not understand all you sexually active males rallying round to pat the initial poster on the back and tell him how great he is...for doing nothing!

I am angry because my right to such a seemingly honorable choice was taken from me. My first time having sex was as a result of being raped at 18.5 yrs of age. To add insult to injury I have had certain male LPSG members tell me my rape didn't count because I knew the guy. WTF!

That said, I honestly believe that holding onto your virginity past the age of say 25 is pointless. Had I not been raped I still would have lost it in college, to a truly wonderful young man whom I met months later, just not to that evil jack ass.

Thank you for your support. I am always a bit unsure whether or not to admit to being a 45 year old virgin. I am always thinking people will make fun of me. Also that they won't believe me. Like some guys at work one time who said I was just telling that to pick up women. I wish I were "just telling" it. It just kind of turned out this way. I didn't intend to stay a virgin until this age. I am afraid of one night stands even though I am tempted at times to look for one just to prove myself. I would prefer a meaningful long term relationship. I may never find either. Women don't seem to pay much attention to me at all. I mainly posted here just to help the original poster feel better by letting him know he's not the only one.
I was surprised that there are any others near my age still virgins.
As I said, this wasn't by choice...it just kind of happened.

i dont ussually post but i found this topic particually interesting so ill put my 2 cents in.

i lost mine in the 7th grade (to a girl) we did it after our first sex ed lesson. And while it was nice to loose it at the time, now i regret it because i lost it just to do it and now im with the girl i love and want to spend the rest of my life with, wishing i lost it to her, but theres 2 sides to everythign i never got to experiance sex with a male, which i really wanted to do but i would never cheat on my girl and it doesnt seem like we breaking up any time soon oh well i can live without it

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. I say rape is rape. Whether you knew the guy or not doesn't change that. Many women have been raped by some guy that they knew. That doesn't make any less traumatic.
That doesn't make it any less of a crime.

These guys aren't doing it to prove a point! They're keen to take the plunge but for one reason or another they've been unable to.
I don't think the idea of losing it to a prostitute appeals to most guys (if that's what you think they should do).To a guy with low self-esteem it would be like admitting defeat and probably end up making him more depressed.

Exactly! Aside from fear of STD's from a prostitute I wouldn't want to think the only way I could get laid was to pay for it. With enough money you can buy most any situation you want in this world. What good would that be?

If I was to win the big lottery I could pay a woman escort to be with me and tell me I was the best thing since sliced bread. I would know full well the whole time that she was lying so what fun would that be? Although I am at times tempted to try to get laid just to say I did...just to prove to myself that I am a real man. I do still wonder if I am real man at times.
I would rather the act be with someone I really care about so it would mean something. If it never happens then it just doesn't.
