I only competed in one power lifting meet (drug tested) @ 165 lbs back in the day and only did bench and pushed 365 (with a shirt). My best (raw) was 365 x 3 bench, 455 x 5 squat (ATG), and 455 x 3 deadlift. I really think I could have done a 500 x 1 squat back then but my lower back can't take that kind of weight anymore.

I made a mistake on my post (I wish they would allow a person to edit their posts).

My best raw bench should have read "335 x 3" not 365.

You gotta love a guy who's so completely honest that he feels the need to go back and corrrect his benchpress info by 30 pounds.
Good for you, Bro, for both the weights and the integrity. :)

I’d like to try it, but don’t have the equipment/facilities to really get into it. I also wouldn’t want to push too hard without coaching. I have sort of a delicate frame, and although I’ve not suffered many injuries, I think my joints aren’t built for the heavy stresses of powerlifting without some close coaching.

My maxes go: bench 250, DL 430, squat 275. :expressionless:

Those are impressive numbers for one so modest. Great work, Bro!
You're right about the coaching, though. It's very easy to get hurt doing PL.

Dude, looking at your pics, you definitely have the build for it. Your raw numbers might not be in the same league as some of the really big guys, but lifting is really about personal improvements and gains. Go for it, but listen to your body if it tells you that the weight it too heavy.

Embarrassed to admit I don’t squat and skip leg day, so I got chicken-leg syndrome going on. But my 1RM for bench press is 425
I get it...legs are the part I dislike doing the most but I am most happy I did after its done. Good flat! I'm trying to get to about that.

425? That’s an insane amount of weight. How long did it take you to get to that and what program did you follow?
I’d say it took about two years of benching, after I first started. That’s my plateau. No specific program. Just kept adding weight. I didn’t even attempt one rep max until I was already benching 225 for 20 reps and 315 for 10.

everyone has different genetics for what muscles respond and how much. My chest and shoulders exploded when I started lifting. But no matter how hard I try, my biceps have always been mediocre. So I play to my strengths.

Those are some pretty good numbers....

Also think you got alot of gains with to be made in squat....I have noticed that in well trained folks the squat and deadlier are kinda close......depending on body type and equipment....some times one is higher than the other....but generally a bit closer

Look if your deadlifting 430.....you obviously got the horsepower in the lower half

All ya gotta do is harness it baby!!!

As for coaching....we live in a new world

YouTube has great coaching from high-level pros.....

I think of all the shitty advice I have gotten from spindly legged "trainers" or blowhard gym coaches....and frankly in would have been way better served by eddy coan on a u tube vid
