Skip this paragraph if you just want to get to the point. OK, so I've been downloading porn off of empornium.us for the last year+... it's been great, pretty much all the porn I could want (and I mean anything, there was never a movie or star I couldn't find), at a decent speed, totally free. I was always convinced something this good couldn't last... and it didn't of course . The site was taken over the other day but a company looking to profit off the sites heavy traffic (makes sense to me but...) and most of its best uploaders took off (I was always good about uploading as well if I may say so) and the entire site has been decimated by it.

So my question is: Anybody know any other good torrent sharing websites that are 'porn exclusive'? Or am I gonna have to go back to a P2P program ... :banghead:

yeah, I know puretna, but unfortunately along with empornium, supposedly TargetPoint (the company who purchased emp) also now owns puretna, so the clock may be ticking on them as well.

Any others?

AboutAverage, I think you will find that this is a common tactic on all kinds of sites, not just porn... offer a free service until you get a sizeable bandwidth going... then "buyout" and switch to a pay-site format. It happens all the time. Those are not true buy-out of the original site. It's a marketing plan. The old bait-and-switch. Get 'em hooked, then demand money.

I totally hear ya, DC - when I would go a lengthy period of time without visiting the site (empornium) I would often click my bookmark expecting it to be down, because the site was always 'too good to be true' to me, lol.

The thing is, empornium.us is still online, still free, and I still have my account activated with a decent share ratio (more torrent speak) ... it's just that a decent % of its other users totally overreacted out of fear of change (they pulled all their torrents, stopped their uploads, downvoted everything else, keep spamming the main page, etc etc) and the site has just been decimated

And thanks for the link, lex, I'm not huge into gay porn (I often joke to myself that lpsg is my gay porn, heh) but I'll check it out.

Thanks for your time everyone!

I gave that a try (thanks for the tip) but it's new technology for me, and I wondered if I was doing something wrong. The site was fine, and I got the software set up fine, but the one I tried to download kepts saying there was about a 6-day download period. I got it down to about 7 hours but then canceled it all, and put it all in the trash.

Was I doing something wrong? I have a high-speed connection.

The browser Opera 9.00 will automatically download torrents simply by clicking on them.
Wow, that's awesome, I gotta look into that!

In my experience, torrent speed kind of 'snowballs' - it starts real slow and as you connect to more and more peers, the speed slowly builds. To be honest, on my cable internet connection, dling at 50k/sec is usually the average, however at empornium I usually topped out at 400 or 500 k/sec (that's why I'm gonna miss it so ). Let the torrent dl for a bit and see how fast it's going then before giving up.

Also (and this is more important) make sure you have your setting tweaked the right way (I personally use Azureus, but there are many other progs out there) so as to best optimize things. I wish I could help you more, but I got everything set up just right a year and a half ago on my pc and haven't touched any settings since, for fear of breaking something  .

Thanks for that AA. Sounds like you're AA "up there" as well. I appreciate the advice. It is SO irritating when things don't make sense; maybe I'll give it a try again later.

To those lost or wondering, AboutAverage tries to explain torrent sharing:

Using your web browser (IE, opera, firefox, whatever), users navigate a site (such as empornium.us or gay-torrents.net) and search a list of 'torrents' that said site's users have uploaded.

The site lists all the torrents (along with important information such as how many MB the file is, how many people are downloading it now and how many people are uploading completed copies - very important as if nobody's sharing a full copy, noone else can receive a full copy), and is the place you go to download the torrents themselves, but all the data is transfered purely by users, keeping the websites (somewhat) out of trouble with the mpaa/riaa/etc.

OK, so you've gone to empornium, signed up for an account and found the new Jenna Jameson (or whomever, just using her as an example) movie you've been wanting. Now you click on it's page within the website and download it's torrent.

What do you do with this torrent? you download a 'BitTorrent client' (such as Azureus) and open the torrent with that. Upon doing so, the BitTorrent client connects to a 'tracker' which provides your client with a list of other clients currently open and sharing/downloading that same jenna jameson movie from that same website. This group of 'clients' share the data with each other at a constant rate (which slowly builds, as I said before) until you've downloaded the whole movie... once you finish your download it's good etiquette to keep uploading it so others can finish getting their vid/file/whatever, and so on and so forth.

Don't know much about gay porn, but I'm sure a site like gay-torrents will have some frat guys going at it. In my travels, every person I've ever seen in every gay porn clip looks like they just walked out of a frat house

Well, it tells you there how long it's going to take--if it's downloading. If it's not downloading, it takes forever--until it starts downloading.

I use Bitcomet. I started out with Azureus, but it is java based, whatever that may mean. It really loaded down my computer. Took like five minutes every time I opened it before anything else would work. Bitcomet is better.

Torrent download times vary by the number of peers who are seeding and/or leeching the file, the size of the file, the speed of everyone's internet connection, and the download/upload ratio that you have set in your Torrent program and others have set in theirs.

Few movies or TV shows ever take less than day to download as far as I know.

Albums can download in as fast a 5 minutes.

After the file has downloaded, you will need the appropriate software to open it (Media Player for WMV or AVI files, for example).
