Anyone ever thought about installing a urinal in your home bathroom?

In my master bathroom, I have a bathtub that is never used. I have been thinking about removing the tub and using the existing plumbing to install a urinal. I think it would be cleaner, use less water and be much more convenient for those annoying midnight nature calls. What do you think?

Had one in a previous house and also by my pool at the same house. I loved it for all the reasons you stated.
When selling the house, ladies weren’t a big fan of the one in the master bath so it’s a risk.

If you can get by with it...probably can't if there is a woman living with you. For something so practical in a man's point of view and so disgusting to most women is something to be forever a mystery to us.

I don't know why they wouldn't like it, then the toilet seat is always in the down position. Women.

That was totally my thought since it solves the seat down issue. It just seemed to gross them out. It was in the water closet and eventually we just had it removed since it seemed to be an obstacle.

Point of disclosure. I’m a gay male and the house was just me and my partner.

It will decrease the value of your property. When it comes to buying houses, most of the time it's the woman that makes the final decision.

Women LOVE baths. Plus they will hate having to mop/clean around something they don't use.

Current fashion is to have a bathroom that reminds them of a day spa not a public toilet block.

You'd add more value adding a second sink or second shower or simply more storage than adding a urinal. Better yet, just do nothing.

Have to weigh in on the side of caution with @Brodie888 on that one.

Sounds a lot like the idea you have when you're turning 21 to get that really cool dragon eating a tiger while punching Godzilla with your Mom and first girlfriend from this week named Mabel tattoo covering your entire chest and abdomen.

It probably isn't such a good idea 20 years later when your wife Karen wants to go to the beach.

Your house your rules dude, if it works for you.

Only draw back might be if you ever come to sell, females may not like the idea.

If I had a true man cave with a bathroom then for sure I'd like one but not in the master bathroom. As for tearing out a tub in a master bathroom, I wouldn't suggest replacing it with a urinal. It will make selling the house much harder I suspect if you ever have to sell.

I tore out the tub in my master bathroom and replaced it with an oversized walk in shower. It actually helped come resale because I still had a tub in another bathroom. I'm not a realtor but have read that there should be at least one tub in the house in order to draw the most buyers. Even though I did much of the work myself, it still cost me several thousand dollars to renovate my master bathroom and that only entailed moving one drain.

There is already a walk in shower in the master bath and another bathroom with a tub.

An ex-neighbor did this in a basement bathroom of a house he was building. He was the only male in the house (wife and 2 daughters).
