Ugh. Snow. Winter. Cold weather. Frozen genitalia. Dogs freezing to fire hydrants. Red barns turning blue because of the cold. Scraping the windshield. Having to turn on the furnace. Having to wear long pants and a damn coat. Yuk.
Christmas should be celebrated with palm trees and margaritas at hand, wearing shorts and a T-shirt. :biggrin1:
Screw this cold weather BS.
(at least I get to spend a week in Mexico where it's warm shortly...)

get a fire place and have sex by it:biggrin1:

nope... still 70 here in DE.

Isn't it DECEMBER?!?!?! There are roses BLOOMING in the back yard!!! If this winter continues to be so warm, i expect to see a lot of tree death next spring. They need the cold weather to kill their cellular respiration and save a little energy up for the spring leaf burst. I'm a little worried.

Snow makes me angry. OK, maybe not angry. Depressed. Confined. Extra work/cost/time wasted. I hate snow.
OK, maybe I am angry. Had 7+ inches of wet heavy snow this morning, and one of the 40+ year old, 30+ foot tall evergreens framing my house succumbed to the weight of the snow when the sun came out today. This is only the first snow of the season here. Not a good way to start winter - I'm bummin.

Watching Chevette ice racing helps, though

we got our first snow in october, and around 90% of our trees were damaged. which took out our powerline(which only god knows why they're still above ground... and who is the genius that decided to put them UNDER the trees?). our whole city excluding downtown buffalo lost power for about a week

In Oslo we had some snow a month ago, but the last couple of weeks have been extremely mild(avg. about 6-8 Celcius/ 45 Fahrenheit)with lots of rain.
I think Northern Europe in general is experiencing an exceptionally warm winter.

Personally I blame Al Gore.

2 inches of freezing rain whcihc turned into ice(about 1 inch coverin the roads) then about 10 inches of snow ontop of that. 11-20 degress since wednesday night when it started; and the snow finally stopped at about 8 am this morning(friday)

Yesturday I spent like 4 hours out trying to help my friends get unstuck in the snow... but by the tme I got their they had already tried. They were in an alley(a really stupid move with 1 inch of ice + 8 inches of snow) and they were trying to reverse out, with the drver side door open, and they backed into a telephone pole which bent the door off the henges.

They did all that before I even get there!

well it started out as rain yesterday, then got colder so the rain turned into freezing rain, and then the snow hit about 10:00 last night, we got 11 inches of the shit, this morning I went out and started my truck up an hour before I had to be at work, got the driveway cleared off, and then it was time for me to head off to work when the woman across the street started to drive out of her drive way at the same time, so I had to stop real quick so I didn't hit her car (especially since her kids were in the car), she got stuck and when I had to stop, I ended getting stuck in the shit, so I called into work and told them that I would be late, then about 10 minutes later, another one of my neighbors was pulling out of thier drive and got stuck blocking the damn street, so I was able to get my truck back into my driveway and called in and said that I wouldn't be in, they were understanding and not to worry, and that another guy in the parts departement couldn't make it in either, so that means that when I show up Monday, I will have twice as much work waiting for me, and a big mess where people have tried to do my job for me and fuck things up.

Heh... commiseration on the weather on LPSG - too funny :biggrin1:

That's what happened to my tree - soaking/freezing rain, we haven't had enough freezing temps yet to freeze the earth, then wet heavy snow, then sunshine to melt it some. The tree (bush? shrub? it's too tall) is intact, but at a 60* angle with half the root ball exposed. Man - I hope it can be saved.

Extra work/cost/time wasted.
:biggrin1:

[sigh] Screw it. Let global warming happen and just put a fucking dome over the city like I've been dreaming about :biggrin1:

It should be savable. This is actually the best time of year for something like that to happen. Prop it back up and use some rope and stakes to anchor it in well, at least through next fall. It should be fine.

Do we have snow? Fa la la la la la la la bite me! We're talking Chicago. We're up to our "expecting inches" in it, and they are freezing off. Humongous storm yesterday (December 1, 2006) with lots of snow.

Sorcerer, get a room ready for me!:biggrin1:

OK there's one plus to snow - Chevette ice racing :biggrin1:

Fast/Furious drifter punks got it all wrong

I like Chevettes... Yea theyre generally an old Eco Scooter..
BUT
1. Theyre Rear Wheel Drive
2. A TH350/400 trans mounts up great
3. A Small Block Chevy bolts right in with the stock hood
4. Complete sleeper car for the unsuspecting...

oh...Ive hijaked this thread...

We didn't get any heavy accumulation... Mostly rain.

Had the first snow that stuck at the house on November 12, snow on the mountains in October, but it didn't stick. Last winter we got a lot of snow and a couple of small snowfields have lasted until the first dusting on the Northeast side of a "mountain" that isn't much over 7,000'. A permanent or semi-permanent snowfield is a long way from becoming a glacier.

In 1992 we had over 15' of snow, it compacted down of course, and would have had more if the 3" of rain in February had been in the form of snow. The elevation at our house is about 4,600'.
