They deny these reports and choose to believe Malcolm X was entirely straight, because in their minds, men liking men is still taboo and because of that it somehow tarnishes all of their incredible achievements. This is the reason why even now, there are MANY Hollywood celebrities who are closeted because they understand how much their careers will suffer if they come out. The world might be changing, but it still retains many fragments of the old ways. And because of that, I think that if Kendrick is queer, he won't come out until much later in life after the world has hopefully changed to point where it is safe for him to do so without shooting himself in the foot.

Assuming he is queer, you’re right, he just might be living his life openly but keeping his sexuality private, we don’t know, and we never might know. The expectations to come out when you fall under the lgbt community unfortunately might further be to the detriment of black men to black men. There’s a lot of unpacked homophobia that he might not want to deal with, e.g. having lil boosie, T.I., etc, attacking him for being him, this especially is the case for black and brown people in the entertainment business who have a large platform, and he doesn’t fit the stereotype of “gay black man”. He might not want to be used as representation. And might also not want to be represented as the stereotypical lightskin guy who people assume is gay because colorism has us believing lightskin men are weak and or gay.

I doubt he is homophobic. He seems to strong of a believer in equality to have prejudices against an entire group of people who are oppressed because of the condition in which they were born.

Also, anyone who gives two licks about the opinions of Lil Boosie - who paid prostitutes to sleep with his barely legal son to ensure that he wouldn't turn out gay - and T.I. - who is still under investigation and fire for multiple rape charges - really need to sort out their priorities because these men are not the kind of people who we should care about judging us.
