This is a ''funny'' question, but interesting. I wonder how many American have passeport and get out of their country. I understand that USA is large, and you can see a lo of scenery, snow, beaches, deserts, etc... all in the same country without the needs of getting out. And I think American are great people in general, easy and just like to have fun. But because of the country been so large and diverse, a great deal of people dont go out of the country, comparing with other country.

I lived in a paradise small Island, so water is everywhere, and I have been in different places, with different beaches and water, and enjoy myself very much. But my dick as never been small as Ogunquit water lol

What could be called a low category one hit Oregon and Washington in October of 1962. It went as far north as Canada and east to the central part of both states. So to answer your question they sometimes make landfall on the west coast of the US. I have seen it rain in California when I was there on holiday, it flooded the auto parking lot.
thank you, pdxjoe!...
indeed... if I suppose that subtropical anticyclones extend over california... so the cyclones would preferentially hit the states to the north... when they would hook the westerlies mid latitude flow up...
thank you again, pdxjoe!...
do you think the 1962 cyclone was from the tropics/low latitudes... and then rounded the subtropical high to approach the north west us coast?... or was it a more northern originated cyclone... formed in the mid latitudes flow...
I think to this case because today... as I was watching satellite images of hurricane MATTHEW... I've had the surprise to see that currently... a cyclone is monitored in the southern indian ocean... south of madagascar... I've already forgotten its name... lol...
this surprised me because it's only spring in the southern hemisphere...
this is why I think that this cyclone has not a low latitude genesis... but may be bound to a mix between mid latitudes/frontal dynamic and oceanic moisture...
so the 1962 cyclone may have a similar genesis than this current indian ocean one...
and thank you for the precision about the rain in california too...

I've been traveling abroad since I was very young. My Mum is from the UK. One of the things that struck me as a little girl is how "new" the U.S. really is. We don't have 500 year-old-buildings much less a thousand.

It really makes you see things differently when you realize that our society is still a toddler compared to most.

I have a passport, but the only other countries I've been too are Canada (which doesn't really count) and Germany (on a business trip). I think the expense is what keeps me away more than anything. If you live in Europe, how many countries are just a train ticket away? Here it's like $1000 - $1500 per person to get anywhere that's not in the Americas or the Caribbean. Once there, travelling from place to place is more affordable, but getting out of here costs an arm and a leg, especially if the whole family is going. There's a lot of places outside the US I'd like to visit, but just aren't going to happen unless I win the lottery or am an old man.
