Anyone on here don't talk to one or both parents?

The old man was a wife and child beater so I've only spoken to him a few times since I moved out at 18, and haven't spoken to him at all since I was 24. A completely immoral person I refuse to have in my life. I don't accept the "life sentence" theory some people seem to have in regards to putting up with evil family members. Since it was within my power to get away from someone like that, I feel it would be immoral not to do so.
