There's no such thing as an open marriage. Marriage and open relationships are contradictory by definition. Trying to redefine marriage and creating a new term of open marriage doesn't make it true or right. If two people want to have an open relationship, then that's there choice and it's fine. Marriage is about commitment and a legal right that so many have fought so hard and long for. This is not about cheating or wanting to have sex with multiple other people. This is not about a married couple wanting to have a threesome once in a while for fun either. I completely agree with you that there is a toxic hookup culture and fear of commitment in the gay community. An open relationship is the direct opposite of marriage. There is no combining the two. Putting into perspective that gays were not allow to legally marry and how long and hard it took to finally have the right to marry in the USA and around the world, it is very disrespectful to those who sacrifice and fought so hard to win the right for the rest of us. If Hank and Thomas want to have an open relationship, then that's there choice and no one can say they are wrong. But when they get married and continue to have an open relationship after getting married, then that is wrong in so many ways. It defeats the purpose of marriage and spits in the face of those that fought so hard for it. Don't get married if you want an open relationship. We only have ourselves to blame when the right-wing conservative homophobes use our disrespect for the legal institution of marriage to take away from us. The toxic culture of self-entitlement and disregard for negative implications and the greater good of the community will only set us back and we will lose whatever gains so many before us sacrifice for. There is no debate and end of discussion.
Now lets get back to nudes and videos of Hank and Thomas!
