We should move away from American politics and have a section for other stuff to reflect the international membership.I get wound up by stupid people asking me why I hate American and I have to tell them its the brainless consumerism, the cult of celebrity, the kneejerk right wing stupidity, the isolationism, the lunatic right wing religious freaks..So let have a section where we take the piss out of our own politics for a bit.
Have you suggested a sub-forum in the Questions, Comments forum? I think it would be a good idea but perhaps one location is preferred by those who find politics dull as dishwater.
Interesting summation by an 18 year old. Did you get all this sage wisdom from 11th grade social studies class?
11th grade? Unless this is equal to our yr11 then the class age you are talking about is going to be lost on us! Perhaps if you state the age bracket it will cause less confusion. Just a suggestion.
You really come off as a bitter old ignoramus. I know plenty of smart young people and their opinions are just as valid as your's and they exhibit more common sense than you do.
just as bad in the UK worse in the UK worse in the U.S., for sure, but UK has some pretty notorious right wing jerks too. I wish!!!! what America are you talking about, boy?
You can always post a politically themed topic here in the politics section, there are the occasional British topics including the one from lemon asking what would happen if the electiion was held today and something about The Robinsons, there are probably others too.
You dont understand. Us young people are stupid. I think its preposturous we are even allowed to vote. There should be an examination so only those deemed smart enough can vote.....
While I don't agree with his generalisations (not all Americans are like you), your response is that of a top-drawer pillock. 18 year olds can vote, as can top-drawer pillocks. Deal with it.
I admit I don't know enough about the social/political climate in the UK to contribute anything meaningful, never having lived there. I suppose that is in contrast to other American voices here, who clearly know all about what happens on your shores. I think it is knee-jerk and meanspirited to shoot you down, especially someone of your tender years, for making an earnest suggestion. I applaud your interest and initiative. I don't see why you can't post a topic on any international political issue here, the forum as far as I can tell is not limited to American politics. I will forewarn you though, we Americans are on the whole pretty ignorant of what happens beyond our borders. Not that we really understand what's going within them for that matter. Nor do we much care about anything that is not fed to us by the media and does not affect us directly. We are an ignorant arrogant lot, we are.
So down with that. Or at least demonstrate some basic knowledge of history and a rudimentary understanding of the structure and function of government.
Yes, I knew that. I am not stupid. I have been known to toss off a little sarcasm myself. Maybe even here. I still think it's maybe not such a bad idea.
