This is halarious. Fox Sports is reporting that the NFL is no longer going to allow any of the players to be aired shirtless during weigh ins or combines. Apparently they are "self conscious" about being seen by other men with their shirts off!

FOX Sports on MSN - NFL - NFL Network won't show shirtless players

NFL scales back on Must See-TV - BostonHerald.com

Ya, we have no problems being naked in the locker room, doing interviews etc, but when they get oogled by other guys and it makes them feel like a peice of meat they want it stopped!

This is so strange I can't even make heads or tails of it. Sure, Americans are uptight in general, and straight American men in particular about how their bodies are viewed... but... I mean, there's nothing salacious about a weigh in, nor is it sexy. I mean, they're athletes so they're used to being seen naked in front of their teammates, coaches, managers... and this isn't even naked, this is shirtless. Which athletes are so fucking insecure that they would request something like this? And how is someone with deeply paranoid insecurities capable of playing well for a professional sports team?

This is really weird.

From the generation that wears underwear in the showers at the gym comes bashful professional athletes... Is that what this is, maybe?

Ten years ago the Los Angeles Times ran an article about high school boys who refused to take showers after PE class. The reporter interviewed several Southern California coaches, and they all agreed that the vast majority of boys were horrified by the thought of being seen in the nude. The coaches said that the only boys who took showers were varsity athletes, and they insisted on wearing their underwear in the showers.

These high school athletes are the NFL stars of today, and the USA has become a nation of male prudes. There are many theories to explain this condition (Google it), but it is a fact of life in 2008. The NFL action is not surprising.

Since when did modesty become weird? And I think that the NFL players don't want other men looking at them SEXUALLY. They know their shirtless pictures will eventually be placed on a gay web site to sexually arouse men. Can you honestly blame a heterosexual man not wanting another man looking at his picture for sexual arousal.

Huh?

Is this tongue-in-cheek? Your post is so quaint we can't tell.

Fact 1: The majority of NFL players are medically obese.

Yeah...jiggle...man...jiggle some more....oh!...no...dude...I gonna cum...

Fact 2: Since when is a weigh-in sexy or a mere state of shirtlessness sexual in that semi-medical context?

In 2008, we're only nanoseconds away from loads of ueber-explicit online sex and need no shirtless weigh-ins to get off!

Are you completely deranged?

Great! To the part of you that's not deranged:

You can have them all, shirtless, cross-dressed to the teeth, disrobed with their black nylon socks on, however you like your NFL men.

I don't drool over prima donnas...That decision (which I still can't believe is serious) has nothing to do with "modesty"...and more to do with their being full of shit, in every sense of the word.
