I've had my Mac for two years now and not one virus, not one missing DLL file, no mysterious errors, the list is endless...
I can tell the same story going back the last five years...and you know what else I don't have to put up with? A douchey corporate overlord who believes he can dictate every aspect of how I use his hardware.

Why?

Because I run Linux.

I am new to Linux and already, start up and shut down is oh so much faster. Software doesn't choke and things just run better. Sure there are differences, so for now I dual boot between Ubuntu and Vista.

I heard that MS had funneled money into Apple to help bail it out many moons ago. Apple rises, MS rises.
It's all the same.

This is my whole point too. I now have freedom.

I've had my Mac for two years now and not one virus, not one missing DLL file, no mysterious errors, the list is endless, it shuts down and starts up while Windows is still trying to close programs and getting stuck. I have had to run zero anti-malware programs, zero anti-spyware programs and zero anti-virus programs. I hate Windows and I always will.

Because nobody writes viruses for Macs. Mac OS is run on less than 10% of computers in the US (and even less worldwide), so virus-writers aren't going to waste their time on such a small demographic. That's like living in a town with a population of 200 and bragging about how Mormons never knock on your door; they're just not going to bother with such a small population.

Still dont understand the details of how to use ubuntu, but I understand not having to wait till tomorrow to use the computer I turned on today. Just got to figure how to make it recognise the video digitiser card...

For many years Bill Gates and Microsoft ruled the roost. As time progressed Microsoft and the quality of the products they produced began to head downhill. We have both PC and Mac machines.

The quantity of $$ spent has no bearing on the quality of a PC. It is a total crap-shoot. The last PC which was a very expensive high end machine has had virtually every component within it's case replaced at least once and some multiple times. This machine is now about 5-years old. This machine has been the most unreliable piece of junk we have ever owned. Without support we still have an old windows 98 machine that is still working though it has been in an "iron lung" for years. Windows 7 is a great improvement over previous programs, but, again Microsoft instead of reliability has had a history of creating something marginal then patching it into oblivion. With each "patch" it becomes increasingly unstable and unreliable.

The Mac Pro is headed towards a year old. It has never frozen, it has never lost files, it has performed flawlessly. It's main disadvantages lie in it's slightly different operating system. In a PC an operation may take one keystroke and with the Mac the same exact operation may take three. The Mac is however much faster on the Internet and the Mac is measurably faster with both machines operating at the same connection speed.

Just as a point of note: I opted for an LED based monitor. I very strongly recommend this. The resolution and brightness on this is absolutely incredible when placed next to an LCD based screen of only a couple of years ago.

I am not in love with Apple as a Company, but, they are going gangbusters simply because the product they produce is of higher quality and higher reliability.

I cannot speak for their phone/pad products, but for their computers the difference is obvious. It's like the old motto Packard had: "Ask the man who owns one!"

Just remember that all AAPL has at this point is a higher market cap. Apple also has close to 7 times fewer outstanding shares than MSFT. I think the thing that really made me buy into Apple is the fact that they have an insane amount of cash on hand, that tells me they're very conservative business wise and if they need to acquire a 3rd party vendor (software/hardware ie: P.A. Semi), they can just write a check for it, not having to worry about borrowing at all. For me, it was a sound stock purchase. Remember, the S&P 500 adjusts it's market caps to reflect public shares.

And I am happy(very) with that. Let the masses take the heat.

What a way to defend the PC world by saying "virus writers" don't waste their time creating for Mac OS like they're actual legit software developers.

As an avid owner of both Macs and PCs, I can honestly say that there was a time when Macs were prone to viruses. This was back in the early days of the OS before they went to X and they had a much smaller customer base then. Some noted ones would really level your computer to the point that you would have to erase and reinstall everything from scratch. The issue isn't that they don't want to. The mass majority of them just can't do it.

Jon Stewart nailed Jobs and Appholes on his Daily Show, check out the link to the archive…,,,funny stuff no matter what brand you use.

"Apple - you guys were the rebels, man, the underdogs. People believed in you. But now, are you becoming the man? Remember back in 1984, you had those awesome ads about overthrowing Big Brother? Look in the mirror, man! …It wasn't supposed to be this way - Microsoft was supposed to be the evil one! But you guys are busting down doors in Palo Alto while Commandant Gates is ridding the world of mosquitoes! What the fuck is going on?!
…I know that it is slightly agitating that a blog dedicated to technology published all that stuff about your new phone. And you didn't order the police to bust down the doors, right? I'd be pissed too, but you didn't have to go all Minority Report on his ass! I mean, if you wanna break down someone's door, why don't you start with AT&T, for God sakes? They make your amazing phone unusable as a phone! I mean, seriously! How do you drop four calls in a one-mile stretch of the West Side Highway! There're no buildings around! What, does the open space confuse AT&T's signal?!
…Come on, Steve. Chill out with the paranoid corporate genius stuff. Don't go all Howard Hughes on us."

I hate Apple. I can't wait for them to fail. I hope they release an iPad size iPhone.

I'm an out and proud mac douche bag :biggrin1:

Exactly. Windows is a piece of shit to put it bluntly. Windows Server is just as bad. If something doesn't work just restart and miraculously it now works. WTF?

And today I had virus number 2 for the year. Quite a little nasty fucker. Prohibited any other programs from opening, couldn't open msconfig to remove it from auto-start, only thing that worked was link to buy the malware to pay the ransom. After several attempts got shit Windows to start in safe mode and ran malwarebytes to remove the virus.

Something I've never seen on my Mac:
