That brought tears to my eyes can a prince kiss me and wake me up.
no, you're living in fairy tale land now. you have to be the prince. go find some dozing beauty to snog.

fairy tales offer few life choices.
women are beautiful, motherly or evil.
men are manly, cowardly or evil.

and what you are is your destiny since birth.

why are traditional values a bad thing? It is right for me.
traditional values would not allow for being transgender.

feminism (unless twisted by extremists) isn't about forcing women to wear trousers, short hair and drive trucks. it's about offering people a choice of what they want to be in life, regardless of gender.

it's not saying that women should never stay home, make babies and cook for hubby. it's saying that this lifestyle should be a choice, and not something that she is expected to go along with just because she was born female.

Sorry - I may be mistaken here but I am under the impression that you are what many people would traditionally call a man who identifies and prefers to live as a woman. Forgive me if I have misunderstood.

How do traditional values help you? Traditional values would probably want to 'thrash the sissy out of you' or some such barbarous thing.

Having Cinderella type figures as the main female role model type for young girls is not a good thing. It teaches them values that will steer them to be passive whether that is their nature or not. It teaches them that their physical looks are their main assets. It teaches them men will solve their problems.

What's wrong with traditional values? They under value women, that's what.

My family love and support me and my family have very traditional values that we honour and cherish. Children need to see traditional values in stories and entertainment along with all differing ways of life.

there are good and bad sides to traditional values.

children need to see role models of both genders who make choices and work to get where they want to be, whether it's home with the kids or at the top of mount everest.

But for the lucky ones the greatest role models are our parents, grand parents, aunts and uncles.

kissing frogs for toys, like pg rated prostitution. and then she falls in love with this creepy git who tries to buy sexual favours from obviously repulsed young women, just because he turns out to be quite good looking.

cinders... an older woman makes her look pretty so that some prince will come along and rescue her.

snow white is saved by the queen's henchman, then runs away and hides until a prince saves her.

red ridinghood was saved by a big, brave man with an axe.

I dunno dolf, sounds like you know your fairy tales. But I do know that fairy tales never influenced me one way or another about gender. They did however help influence my creativity, imagination and fun. To understand old fairy tales is to understand the age and who scribed them. Modern day tales are just as creative . There are many fairy tales that are gender void, yet I believe the ultimate message in fairy tales old and new, albeit a small part, is hope.

that's true.

and your parents supported your choice, yes?
supported the work you put into being a woman.
they didn't force you to meekly accept.

they didn't accept it when i first told them but as their child they wouldn't abandon me but stuck by me and loved me and now they love their daughter and of course want me to find a good man to marry and be a mother (adoption).

Cinderella does not battle against her step-sisters - she does as she is told. Snow White does not battle the Queen - she runs away (because a man tells her to). Little Red does not out-smart the wolf - in some versions she is eaten (raped) and in other she narrowly avoids being eaten (raped) because the wood-cutter intervenes and saves her. I think dolfette explained the frog=John situation.

Why do they call them Fairy Tales?

What conjures in ones mind when 'Fairy' is mentioned?

well there's a happy ending i can't criticise!
you're a much better fairy tale princess than these limp, two dimensional wimps. you stood up to your parents, they accepted your choice, you worked for what you wanted and now you're ready to meet a prince.
