Ok, this is my first "real" post:

I've been recently very curious on trying on some magnum condoms because I feel that regular condoms (I like the ultra thin kind) are "choking" my penis when I put them on (Yes I know that even small condoms can fit on ANYTHING, but the more stretched they are the tighter the fit).

I'ts not a huge pain, but I sometimes when I'm really hard and I put it on, I loose some of the hardness, I don't know if this is due to the pressure, or just the thought of a condom in general. I once tried a "normal" condom, not the ultra thin ones, and I had to take it off right away, it was just too uncomfortable.

So my questions are...
Would you recommend trying magnums?
Is there an actual difference from normal ones?
Whats your experience with magnums (Specially the first time)?
Are they just a marketing scheme for the male ego?

I thought I'd get some insight from you guys first, I don't considerer myself big, so I don't want them to slip off, throw them away and waste money.

Thanks to all!:biggrin1:

my experience with Magnums is they fit better for me
I am both long and thick so for me finding a condom for thicker cocks like mine was great
I never liked condoms till a bottom tried a magnum on me
the regular ones do fit but are too tight

There used to be a magnum xxl that was nice, but they seem to have all but disappeared.

They're def better than standard condoms, but the increase in diameter is not anywhere near what you'd expect.

They are actually bigger.
I would guess from looking at your picture that not only should you try a larger condom but that you need a larger condom.

A lot of the tightness comes from the ring and they are wider at the bottom.

The only difference between Magnum and Magnum XL is that the XL has more "headroom". The length is the same.

Both are longer and wider than regular condoms.

In spite of the strength of the regular condoms, I used to experience frequent breakage.
Eventually after hanging around LPSG for a while, I realized the problem was that they were too small.
So there are more issues than comfort.
But sex is supposed to feel good.

There are custom size condoms (They Fit Brand) which always seem difficult to obtain, especially in the USA.

Condomania carries a large variety and has a lot of info.

junkere, it won't hurt to just pick one up at the store and try it on when you're watching porn. Even if you're just thicker and not 12" long, it'll be better.

I figured that I was just going to be SOL with condoms until I put on my first Magnum. I won't buy anything else now.

I think the problem with magnums is that they're marketed towards bigger dicks as if they're all the same.

The name is definitely marketing in action, and depending on what style of magnum you're talking about, they would probably do a better job just branding them by profile -- aka "large flared tip" or something like that.

But it will never fly in a consumer society like ours! :biggrin1:

I've never actually understood how one can break a condom... I mean, I cant imagine breaking a condom, I feel them real tight but no where near about to break.

Those custom size condoms sound nice, but unfortunately we don't have those type of "kit's" here where I live.

I'd love it if I could buy just one, unfortunately like I said to pitbull, where I live we have a very limited amount of condom options, I'd have to buy a 3 pack, and I would'nt wanna waste them (not even with my hand :biggrin1:)

I totally agree. But that's just the way we've been raised. From the minute we are born we are introduced in a marketing society.

BTW... Those are some really hot picture you've got! Great body ;)

You lose a bit of your hard on if you are too girthy for the condom you have on because it stops some of the blood flow when you want it most. I would think somewhere online would sell a three pack of Magnums.....check it out...minimal investment, big time payoff if it works.

Once you start moving, the friction results in breakage. Believe me, you would break smaller condoms.

Then order them online and they will post them to you.

Both Trojan Magnum condoms and Trojan Magnum XL condoms (which are still available) have a "flared" shape. They are not wider at the ring. They are widest near the closed end just where the base of the glans winds up. The width of these condoms depends on the point at which you measure them.

The average condom has a cylindrical shape, with uniform width throughout. The typical width is 52mm (that is for the flattened, unstretched condom) with a length of 190 mm. The Trojan Magnums and Magnum XLs are just a little wider at the ring or "bead" at 54 mm. But they are much wider at the flared end. The Magnum has a maximal width of 60 mm and the XL a maximum width of 65 mm. Both the Magnum and Magnum XL are also longer at 205 mm.

So the name is not just a gimmick. They are bigger. But of course, the choice of name is certainly marketing strategy.

With all the good things said about them I think I might give them a try, I just hope they won't fall off...

6mm doesn't actually sound much of a difference to me, can you actually feel the extra width when you put them on?

Thanks, good info.

I always use magnums these days. There wasn't any choice when I was younger and 'normal' condoms never rolled fully down properly (I'm wide but not too long) and I've had the occasional one come off in girls. Some, like the 'mates' brand here in the UK, were very constricting and actually spoilt the fun.

I use magnum ecstasty for vaginal, normal magnums for anal.

having over 6" girth, I certainly was appreciative when magnums came out on the market. it was not uncommon for a regular condom to "shred" during intercourse.

Thanks, good info.

The width listed for a condom is for the width of the condom flattened out under no stretch. The circumference of the unstretched condom when it assumes a circular or oval cross-section is twice that width. So a 52 mm wide condom has an unstretched circumference of 104 mm = 4.1".

Of course, most guys have a girth over 4.1" but a condom has to be under some stretch in order to grab hold enough to not slip off. How much it has to be stretched might vary from guy to guy depending on penis shape and maybe even things like how tight his partner is or how vigorously he screws them.

Most guys with a fairly average girth in the 4.8-4.9" range can use the typical size condom with an unstretched circumference of 4.1", so that means that the condom is being stretched to about 20% above its resting circumference. But a condom doesn't just get purchase from the ring or "bead", it also gains purchase from the rolled out part of the condom called the "film". In those flared or shaped condoms with more headroom (like the Magnums or Magnum XLs) the film is not as snug on the penis, so the bead may have to grip a bit harder to keep the thing on.

The bead of a Magnum or XL is 54 mm = unstretched circumference of 4.25". Stretching that 20% gives a circumference of 5.1" I think a guy with a baseball bat shaped penis with a base girth of 5.1" could probably use one, but a guy who is cylindrical, or thickest toward the base might have to be around 5.5" or thicker to have a Magnum stay on.

I am tree-trunk shaped and the last time I used condoms I had a base girth of around 5.75". I could squeeze into a regular 52 mm wide cylindrical condom, but they were uncomfortable. The Magnums fit much better and were secure. I could also use the Magnum XLs and they didn't slip off, but they had more headroom than I needed and were a little baggy at the tip.

To answer the question (finally) a difference in condom width of 6 mm means a circumference difference of 12 mm or almost half an inch. That is like the difference in half an inch of penis girth. It is pretty substantial. And the Magnum XLs which have a maximum width 11 mm greater equate to a difference in maximum unstretched circumference of .87", pretty huge.
