Most Every man has a deep biological yearning for women.
But not all men get the kind of response they hope for from women.

Women, in exercising their choice, can be astoundingly cruel, especially young women to young men... who are far more devastated by rejection, since they are the ones having to take the risk.

Many men react to these early injuries by forming a deep grudge against women in general... many want to 'get even' by learning how to get women interested and then dumping them or mistreating them in a manner similar to the off hand dismissal that they have suffered at the hands of women.

Other's never seem to get any better at relating to women and end up lonely and frustrated... surrounded by people who are getting their needs met while they go begging... they may end up having to rely on prostitutes, which further erodes their sense of worth.

All these various factors combine to make many men angry, or resentful toward women, whom they perceive as having power over them, or over their needs and desires... And this manifests as objectification.

It is important to note that, to the twisted logic of the rapist... rape is an act of vengeance.

women control men's access to women. And those who women do not readily bless with their affections tend to be damaged further by that reality.


(this is not meant to point a finger at women or suggest they are to blame- biological selection is supposed to be a competition, its the way we are evolved... but the runts of any litter can not help but envy and be jealous of their more successful siblings, and rage at the unfairness of life.)

My recent experience with the girlfriend, now kinda sorta X-girlfriend, drove home that old yarn: if it flies, floats, or fucks, it's cheaper to rent.

I'm petty sure I'm one of those people. When it comes to porn, many things people find to be sexually degrading of women are huge turn ons for me. I'd even venture to say the majority of guys are that way.

This is LPSG. Can I not expect low standards? After all, a woman complaining about men being cruel? I could easily create a thread boasting the reverse and get many more posts if someone hadn't beaten me to it.

Also, as a genetics grad I would suggest reading "The Selfish Gene" and "The Red Queen". They both are fascinating summaries into human nature but removing the 'social' factor from the equation. I would let people make their own conclusion.

However, the subject has been on my mind for months -- ever since the October 2009 gang rape of a 15 year old girl (at her high school dance). Twenty or more young men watched and/or participated for TWO AND A HALF HOURS. It's a miracle the poor kid survived.

It is easy to look at such an event and jump to the conclusion that because they are men they lack human qualities. And maybe porn caused massive damage in society with the attitudes of men towards women. The same is often said of Rap Music - women are "Bitches and Hoes".

But it is more complex than that.
American society often does not care and people do not want to get involved.
And it has been going on for quite a while.
Long before porn was just a mouse click away.

Forgive me for bringing a disturbing incident from the past into the conversation.
A crime that shocked America.
Shocked America because so many turned their heads.
Shut their windows.
Ignored the screams of a woman attacked and stabbed.

In 1964 Kitty Genovese was raped and murdered in Queens NY. 38 people witnessed the attack. (She actually was attacked twice - her assailant left and came back)
No one called the police.
Until it was too late.
The police responded within 2 minutes after one of the 38 finally made a phone call.
Too late.
She died on the way to the hospital an hour after the initial attack.
America was shocked but not enough. It seems that we still do not help out those in need as evidenced by the story about the 15 year old girl.

I realize that seeing some more violent porn that guys may watch and get off on is more complicated than it first seems. Obviously we guys are human but in a different manifestation than women...similar but different at the same time.

I read somewhere recently that there's a biological reason for men's strong tendency to objectify women, or actually everything. Part of our primitive survival mechanism depends on being able to evaluate a "hunting" situation as positive or negative. Men have evolved into creatures that focus on animal prey to be able to make a quick decision about what and what not to kill, who and who not to mate with. Objectification is a part of that process at least according to this theory. But i don't think that modern men can use this as an excuse to objectify and use women for our pleasure. It takes some emotionally conscious work on our part to understand our own violent natures and attempt to "civilize" them to some degree. If you can believe it, there was a time when men would murder the wives children of other men to take advantage of them.

I do understand your anger, hurt and confusion about this issue. It freaks me out too about myself and my guy friends. Great post BTW.

to some of those lashing out at NP for her initial post...i know it's in grey and thus takes a modicum more effort for you to read, but check the first line in the post. venting. as in, the context of her comments is hyperbole. if i said, "i'm having an awful day and just want to kill everyone on the planet," are you going to jump down my throat for endorsing genocide? focus less on responding to the over the top rhetoric of her rant, and more on the actual issues that would provoke such a response. given the horrifically still prevalent presence of violence towards women in our culture, both nationally and globally, it's easy to understand how the notion of guys rubbing their dicks to a girl getting "abused" might raise a few hackles, y'know?
