I've been very dubious about the manosphere movement but I'm getting curious. From what I've seen, most of the guys are competing for gold in the victim olympics where they think that they are being oppressed around every corner and where all manner of selfishness and stupidity is absolved by being a man. They often even forgive themselves for all manner of assholery because they imagine that they would have given some woman a seat on a dingy if they were on the Titanic. Some think that we need to pass laws to stop women from increasingly out preforming men by working three jobs and taking night classes while guys play PS5 on the couch and collect unemployment. They generally seem like retarded egotists who think that women should fall in line and beg to suck the dick of some high school dropout who cheats and can't pay for the house, never mind the kids, just because random fate gave them a Y chromosome.
But, by the same token, I think that they have a number of good points about everything masculine being toxic. Testosterone has consequences, both good and bad. We're hairy, horny, kind of uncouth, and a little aggressive. It has plusses and minuses. Women often savagely criticize men for even just wanting "guy time". But it is what it is. More and more, society expects us to be hairless Ken dolls who always go with the flow. That's not really us, but again, we're also not savage Vikings (which is a willful, idiotic, ignorant reading of history) where guys were the king of every home and where the world, most especially women, catered to their every need. I'm from a hockey background where being a little bit savage, but not an asshole, every week is so attractive that guys try desperately to hold onto it long past the days of being able to basically stand up on skates. Every ex-NHLer, for example, bemoans not the loss of a paycheck, but the guy time.
What has me asking this question, and being a little angry, is that I tried to do some research on it, and EVERYTHING came back to either women/PC organizations passing judgements on it, or one of three "men's" organizations who clearly bought up all of the links so as to funnel everyone to them in order to raise funds and basically create a cult. It seems that if you're interested in the men's movement, you're either going to be routed to women's groups who will belittle you, or to "men's groups" who spend a ton of money to corral you into engineered social groups where any descent is demonized, or more likely surgically excised from existance before it even hits the point of debate.
Does anyone have anything more amenable to open discussion?
Thanks.
