*sigh*
What have I already told you about this?
Here is an extract from Kotchanski's post in
http://www.lpsg.org/238628-revision-in-the-lpsg-rules.html :I know you're new here and I don't like being a Nagging Nancy, but sometimes these things need to be explained.....again.
I'm going to reinforce this with you Willow.
Also, asking others to speculate on whether this member is posting fake pics or not could get the other members into trouble as well. It sets a bad precedent. The member posting the pics may not be trying to fool anyone - they may be real or satirizing the site theme. It's the public questioning that has gotten other members into trouble.
The rule mainly deals with and originated out of people "gender" faking or using stolen pics...
not because of people photoshopping or using shopped pics. "Validity of a member's images" means whether or not they are stolen,
not whether or not they are altered.
Although, like Pecker said:
Our current policy on photoshopping is to let it stand as long as it isn't being used to deceive the membership. We feel the poster is more to be pitied than punished.
As for questioning such things, you are strongly advised to report your suspicions to a moderator via the Report key or PM/email than to bring it up for public discussion on the board.
It is
strongly advised that you report someone for anything that seems suspicious. "Deceive the membership" in the sense of claiming to be someone who you are not -
not claiming you are 11x7 and posting up a photoshopped pic.
That being said, I think it's pretty clear that they aren't talking about saying that someone's photos seem altered or not. That's not the same as saying that someone isn't who they say they are, along the lines of that of gender faking or stolen pictures. In this case, the person is just saying that they are using "altered" pics, not stolen ones.
It would be similar to someone saying, "Hey guys I'm super rich!" and someone's response being, "No, you're not super rich!". Then people saying that the naysayer should be warned/banned for accusing them of not being rich when they said they were. Again, not at all the same as accusing someone of gender faking or using stolen pics.
