I think we've had similar threads before, but sometimes it's better to start from scratch than to dig up some 4 year old thread....

Are you a musician? Professional? Amateur?

I sing in a choir, play piano (not very well), teach music and play around with recording.

AMATEUR!!! Love singing, but I'm awful in it. A mate if mine is wonderful in it! He is a big example for me, what a voice! But he supports me in singing, so that is nice!

Played violin growing up - took it up again fairly recently, but not that brilliant at the moment.

Can't sing to save me life.

I really don't consider myself a musician, but I play the piano very well.

I am a professional musician. It's taken me around the world.
There are actually quite a few musicians on here.

Pianist here....semi-professional (in the final stages of my studying). Although, all classical here.....so there will be no singing. Beethoven, Brahms, Liszt, Chopin, Debussy, Prokofiev among my favourites :)

Well, if you play the piano very well I would say that counts as being a musician.

I appreciate that, I'm also an excellent cook but I don't consider myself a chef. For me it takes dedication to something to qualify. I just read music and play the piano because it relaxes me...sort of like cooking.

I play keyboards--admittedly not all that well, but I try.

I also write music in spare time. It's mostly set up for the format of a typical rock band: 1 or 2 guitars, bass, keys, drums, and occasionally other instruments (sax, cello, flute, etc). I won't comment on the quality of my music--I'll leave that to anyone interested in listening--but if nothing else I'm prolific. Should anyone be interested in hearing what I've written, feel free to send me a PM with your email address. I like to get feedback on my music.

I hack at the guitar (elec and acoustic) and toy w/ the mandolin. I also sing...I play with 2 or 3 others and we occasionally do open mics and a real gig or two. I do it for fun but my brother makes his living as a musician.

I play the piano tolerably well.
Used to play the trombone, tuba and recorder as well, besides singing in choirs.

I would like to get an electric keyboard and start working on getting some technique back. I'd prefer an acoustic piano, but that won't work very well in the small apartment I'm living in ... so I need to find an electric keyboard whose 'touch' is reasonably close to that of its acoustic brethern.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

Does a kazoo count? Besides that, I play the Chinese flute . Can't read music though, so I play by ear.
