I have recently been observing certain members of this group and wondering if they are Indigo. If its not easy being green it is probably harder being Indigo and probably very likely to send you into a Mood Indigo... For those of us born before a certain point being Indigo may have been even more of a challenge... Here is a test to see if you may be part of this elite but delightful group of individuals.... Except that stuff about reading auras and awareness of parallel dimensions. That's not typical of angst-ridden teens so much as fruitcakes. And the business of electrical things malfunctioning is familiar to anybody who can work a computer to the extent necessary to read the test, so that one - via the magic of JavaScript - should be checked "yes" automatically.

So it's post-teen angst with a fruit cocktail chaser.

I'm afraid the etymology of the name is still evasive, unless it's something trivial like "deep blue".

There are schools of thought who believe that this term "Indigo" is merely something that parents in denial chose to label children they have not parented well, or that have mental illness. As you notice, however it does say you MAY be Indigo. Many things have similar symptoms...

Big Dirge has a point, and one that I couldn't help but notice myself. Still, it was fun to take, and I can't help but wonder about his results!

There have always been people who are grandiose, and like many things it often starts with a small element of truth. Many figures of historical significance had HUGE egos, but also the ability to do something significant. It would be unlikely for a person to discover they were "gifted" in some way, and not have that affect their sense of self at all.

As an aside, my daughter was born with a BLUE butt! I don't mean blue like a bruise, but bright, nearly luminescent blue like the colour selected. Her two Indian doctors bowed their heads. They later explained that this is not all that rare among Indian babies, and may even explain why the baby Krishna is depicted as being blue. Cultural beliefs often have some small element of truth to them. In addition to being raised by parents who told her she was special, she has this to turn to for evidnece- pretty compelling, in addition to her intelligence level.

Many of the same symptoms are shared with less desireable diagnoses like dyslexia, ADD, and schizophrenia. We can also add in chemical dependancy and addictive behaviors. I'm sure admist it all, there IS a personality profile being described.

I thought the same thing Snoozan, as I live with chronic depression and anxiety. I vaguely recall hearing that previously Indigo People were called the H.S.P. or Highly Sensitive People. Some believe H.S.P. to merely be a pc term for a Borderline Personality.
