I held off on joining FB for years but when I did I totally didn't ever see what people found evil about it. I lurve it, my updates aren't mundane and people look forward to them. My group of friends and I are so interactive we stimulate each other in weird ways. I say things far better on Facebook than I do on LPSG. So my positive feedback loop has been awesome.

Different strokes for different folks.

A different question on a similar note?...

Do you "Friends Request", or "Accept", more often?

There as in here, I definitely "Accept" way more than I "Request". I'm always hesitant to ask. I just don't want to put someone in the possible uncomfortable position of declining, or even reluctantly accepting.

Not sure why I feel like that, because I am almost always happy to accept Friend Requests.

is not the user habits, is the site's policies and practices being my main objection.
me and mine keep close quarters with various forms of "hey, how ya be doing?" bounced around face, phone, messages and letters.

hmm.. and for true.. i just ain't interesting enough to keep updates going :tongue1:

Facebook has undergone some immense changes in the last few months even to allow you to have separate photo albums, status updates and restrictions you can place on each and every person you are friends with or choose to simply NEVER show up under a search for someone even if you've been friends int he past. All of these options are delicious and make Facebook far better to me than nearly every place on the interwebz in an exponential way.

I can status update or share a photo and have all people see it, friends or not, or just everyone but my own mom. Who doesn't lurve that idear?

for true, Ms. Maddie? sounds fripping exhausting. in the most draining, obligating, eating up my-space-time-quiet kinda way.

i love alone. and quiet. and disconnected.
is time i value greatly.

facebook. twitter. all the rush of media feels like it pushes those boundaries in smaller and smaller.

makes me all fidget just thinking about it
*closes curtains... turns off phone*

For me, personally, it's just morphed into something I've been able to manage over time on this large of a scale. I couldn't have just been thrown into the fire and survived. I've been there with the changes and slowly building up my friends list and figuring out who needs to know what. Though I do find people MUCH less nosey when I throw them selective bones. Many people are in the shadows and don't even let me know they are there other than being on the friendslist, vice versa.

I don't find it exhausting at all. It helps me make connections in ways I'd never be able to do before now in my regular life. It's paid off immensely for me. Which is why I love it so much obviously!

I'm pretty strict about who I have on fb, so I've only got a very few from here.

I have a few friends from here on my FB account. FB for me is a way to keep up with whats going on with friends from home...family and most of the people I hang out with when I escape the boundaries of Orange County. I really only have one person that I hang out with where I live. Nearly all my friends live in LA, LB or SD...so I go there to socialize and such.

I don't think I've requested anybody in a year or so. I, too, hate the awkward rejection. But of course, I love being the one who gets to reject. I'm an asshole like that.

As for the features on Facebook, I really like them. I've never gotten as complex to where I will select who my status updates go too, but its nice to know I could. I haven't really posted a status in good 6 months... All I post are videos or links, but mainly things on my close friends "Walls." I do like how you can have "groups" now, and I'm part of a few. Good friends and I can post stuff in there that nobody else can see, so it makes it easier for us to talk without others getting in the way.

Maybe if I started to specify which of my friends can see what, I would be me apt to adding friends from here. Until then, its going to take some getting to know/trust a person that I don't know too well offline.

I requested one person from here to be friends with on facebook, after we had spoken on the phone and stuff, but he never accepted.
He tried telling me he never saw my friend request on here or on facebook..........

Facebook free is the choice for me. I think I'm the last person on earth without a facebook account. I feel sorta like Charlton Heston in Omega Man.

You're not the only one. I don't do Facebook either. I enjoyed it when it was restricted to students. It was fun and people posted crazy pictures. Once it opened to everyone, it lost its charm and I said goodbye.

Same here.. although it was a woman i added. We had been chatting and camming both here and on skype everyday for weeks, it was only when i thought i'd add her to my facebook, just to see how she would react to it - and i got the same response - she never saw my friend request!

I thought this cant be true, so i cancelled and tried again.. and the same applied.. So i questioned her about it after we eventually fell out and stopped speaking.. apparently it was because she didn't want to mix someone she had a sexual relationship with her family and friends and her facebook was very private to her.?!.. I just thought this was a load of bullshit.. as i found out later she was leading others along the same as me..

Oh yeah.. I forgot to mention I fucking hate using FB. The site irritates the hell out of me and is super un-intuitive to use. However, since it's the easiest way for me to keep in touch with some people, I use it. Grudgingly. Very grudgingly. :frown1:
huh...a 5 year old can navigate FB

I don't have a FB, everyone I need to communicate with is in my phone. Family and friends. I don't need to keep them updated on every aspect of my day.
*status update* I'm having burritos for dinner!!
*status update a hour later* delicious!!
*status update a few hours later* sitting on the toilet cause of those damn burritos.
