Maybe it's just me and my fantasy world I live in, but I purge the friendslist by saying such absurd things that they remove me and I don't have to remove them. Chances are they end up keeping me around just for shits and giggles. I'd rather go out with a bang.

I do this kind of thing with my Twitter account. If I lose people who follow me, then I know I did a good job.

I feel like Facebook is so cool about having me know shit about people that would never have been learned otherwise or not for many years to the point where I feel like I have a Game Genie of Life honestly.

Most of the time I am just paying attention to 5-10 people who are really close to me. Other times I get a kick out of seeing what I've actually accomplished in my life compared to other people.

Some people are so touchy on Facebook, I once got in to a heated and potentially homophobic argument over some song lyrics (doing the dork thing every teen does, posting them) because they mentioned "She's got a girlfriend now."

I know now though, that if there's a wedding, that member of the family won't be invited. :)

My friends and I have also started creating groups, which has become our predominant form of communication, we're nerds and do our nerd things as a group of 5 - 7 people. It's nice, and is essentially an open forum for us to discuss things, lately it's been sexuality and how straight is the minority of our group.

I would rather just not use Facebook lol. I know it's probably great for keeping up with everyone, but I'm not that interested. If someone's got something important to tell me they can call me or text me. Besides, even when I had an account I never got on lol. I was horrible at it. It just doesn't keep my interest.
texts cost me money. Also, when you post to FB all the people you want can see it, you don't have to send a text to 10 different people

I'm friends on facebook with an LPSG member, yeah. I'm pretty anal about my privacy, as people who've gotten to know me better on here are well aware, so taking the leap from "no identifying information" to "seeing my vacation pictures and knowing who my friends are" is a big one for me.

Heheh. Big one.

Anyway, I'm pretty selective to begin with about whom I friend - on here, or on Facebook. I want it to actually mean something, you know?

I completely agree. I see no point in having a huge friends list if you don't interact with a majority of them. I like to keep it to the people that I'm going to actually care about.

I also agree with what you said about personal identifiers. Going from a place like this, with nothing, to Facebook that is pretty much all about my daily life is a HUGE change

Nothing about facebook ever appealed to me, and I'm kind of a stubborn son of a bitch anyway, so I never signed up and have spent years avoiding it. It seems like most of what I hear about it is in the form of complaints anyway, so I don't feel like I'm missing anything. Besides, like Google, they seem to have gotten too big for their own good.

A different question on a similar note?...

Do you "Friends Request", or "Accept", more often?

There as in here, I definitely "Accept" way more than I "Request". I'm always hesitant to ask. I just don't want to put someone in the possible uncomfortable position of declining, or even reluctantly accepting.

Not sure why I feel like that, because I am almost always happy to accept Friend Requests.

I suppose my "FR" and "Accept" are both about the same (on FB and LPGS)
I rarely ever request friendships (either here or there) and in both places, I'm very careful about accepting.

LPSG: I accept those I feel I can trust, those that I've developed at least a form of communication with.

FB: I only accept people I know that know me. They need to know me on a personal level, either family, extended relatives, or friends. Rarely do I accept co-workers. And, if you start posting every little detail about your life, I tend to "unfriend". TMI TMO... (Too Much Info Turns Me Off)

Exactly. I think that's the crucial bit. Most of us on here are being coy about our real selves, to a certain extent. But Facebook is where you're supposed to be your real self, right? That's a big gap to bridge.
