So I am watching the show Manswers and they do a segment on what signs to look for to tell if a woman is actually a transexual.

    The answer?
Finger length. The show claims that a man will have a shorter index finger then the ring finger.
A woman will have a longer index finger then a ring finger and that is something that surgery can not really change.

So obviously I check both of my hands, and it turns out that I am female.

Now, is this the biggest load of crap or what? I dont know how to make a poll here, but can you all check?

Am I an anomaly or is that show just BS?

Well my index finger and ring finger on my right hand are exactly the same length and my index finger on my left hand is shorter. I sometimes think things like this are BS, but you can bet I'm going to start paying more attention to peoples fingers now on!

Ok, I have never looked close before, but now that it has been brought up, I'm actually opposite of Nick and nudeyorker. Left hand, index and ring finger exactly the same length. Right hand, index much shorter than ring finger.

HA, this proves it...I really am BI :biggrin1::tongue:

The index fingers on both my hands are shorter than the ring fingers, and I can assure you that I am 100% female.

Same length on both hands here and there could be some truth to certain parts of the original post based on myself. Read into it what you may.

As a biologist, I can assure you that even if testosterone levels did have a direct effect on finger length, this is NO PROVEN LINK between testosterone and sexuality. And "transexuals" are individuals who believe they are born in the opposite sexed body, whether they are pre or post-op is irrelevent to the fact that they are transexual. Intersexed individuals have "ambiguous" genitalia. Now from what I get from western media, the concern is actually played up as when a (straight) male goes out with a chick and she ends up having a dick. That would be a "tranny" - a word I dislike - which is short for tansvestite, NOT transexual.

All this to say that I think the show Manswers shuld be shut down for perpetuating stereotypes that only make people look even dumber than they actually are.

I think there should be differentiation between these two terms. A transvestite is a man in female dress. A "tranny" as far as I know is a male who has taken hormones to cause breast development, or some males naturally have breast development. I don't know how common this is, but I don't think it is one of the forms of hermaphrodism.

I heard this before and saw my right ring was longer than my right index and then just forgot about it.

However... this time, I looked at my left hand, and they're the same size. Freaky.
