It sounds like so many arguments around here, doesn't it?
Arguing With a Homophobic Bear
There were lines which were almost word for word when compared to a conversation I had with an individual a few weeks ago. I have to post this on my facebook page. Thank you for sharing.
Wow it was almost like a thread I was forced to slog my way through recently. Except this was much more civil. Thanks for posting it.
Great post, VB.
I find the Libertarian arguments against LGBT equality especially disingenuous.
Thanks for sharing this, VB!
This is exactly why I never argue with homophobes- they always "win".
Hate speech is sanctioned in most civilised countries, the bear should go to jail.
They came first for the Communists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.
Then they came for me
and by that time no one was left to speak up.
Most definitely! Summed up in the last line, "Just like a liberal - always insisting on logical argument and reasoning and all that intellectual shit. I win! I win! I win!!! Bbbuuuurrrrpp!"
Reminds me of quite a few posters round here.
In their minds they "win". And with so much visual stimuli out there that directly (or indirectly) reflects their sentiments it may seem like they're winning. Hence the arguments about "Adam & Eve" and all that other crazy madness. But as long as we continue to progress forward, the victories will become fewer and fewer. Newer generations will become more in tune with their self being and understand that homosexuality is nothing to fear.
Case in point... On a slightly irrelevant (but kinda related) note, NBC showed a repeat of SNL with the skit where actors Andy Samberg and Bryan Cranston engaged in several bouts of man-on-man kissing. Grant it, I kinda wish I was the one kissing Cranston , but it shows just how far we've come despite the hateful noise and some of the temporary societal setbacks generated by some of the politically ignorant in power. Something like this wouldn't have even been heard of on network TV a couple of decades ago. One day, the "wins" from homophobes will be on par with someone clearing the maze in Pac-Man... even though it takes 255 more times to do it in order for the game to finally crash.
Damn, that was a rather geeky/nerdy/obscure referencing post. I need a drink! :biggrin1:
I had no idea there was one!
Although in my opinion both the Pauls just pretend to love fetuses and Jesus so that they can get elected
Get me one as well! :biggrin1:
And I loved the other link as well.
Epic Win. :biggrin1:
I watched this yesterday and just had to post it to my Facebook page. I love Tim Wise!
