Yes Janet is a democrat who was our governor till Obama snatched her up. Sometimes AZ does it get right hence the term "consistent" not always. Honestly I think it was because there were enough independents to sway the vote Janet's way. Hopefully that will occur again because there has been a surge of voters registering independent.

AZ consistently votes RED because of the older population and because of the redneck mentality that runs rampant here. The only reason Jan Brewer is ahead here is because of SB1070. She can say things that people totally disagree with but if they agree with sb 1070 they will still vote for her.

In general, the political scene here seems to be highly corrupt to me, thus i kind of throw my hands up with frustration.

I agree it is corrupt, no one wants to talk about Jan's connections to the private prisons of whom her campaign manager is on the sitting board or that Russell Pearce (sponser of SB1070) has know associates with neo nazi groups out here and that, oh helll...Joe Arpaio...sheesh!

I refuse to give up though, regardless of what other people think of our state there are people here who try to make a difference.

Live in AZ too and so frustrated with this woman. Friends from all over call me and wonder why I still live in Phoenix. I started a post a few months ago of the crazy laws that passed here (they took right to bear arms in a whole new level). I'm embarrassed at some of the decision making around this state. Luckily there is an influx of new ideas coming in. Hopefully there will be change in the future that will actually benefit this state.

Four years later, the sour grapes continue. Joe Arpaio has announced today that his 6-month investigation found Obama's birth certificate to be a forgery (here). His lynch mob of old white southerners are maintaining that they started the investigation without any 'preconceived ideas', while denying that there is any motivation involving race.

Fuzzy is certain that they expended as much time and energy investigating George Bush's birth certificate.

PS. Starting an investigation without 'preconceived ideas' is impossible.

I try to get past my preconceived ideas about people like Arpaio. But then shit like this just confirms them. :smile:
