Well, I'm no fan of the Governator (even though I held out hope that he might do something positive once he got in there), but I don't think he ever directed any of his own movies, however bad, so THAT would be a fallacious charge against him. :p

However, he did CHOOSE the roles and ACT in them, so to speak. He just doesn't seem to realise that he doesn't have to select a comedy role to be a comedic performer.

He's a hoot alright. I'll be laughing even harder once his ass is out of office.

and apparently, you did not. Prop 77 was never a solution to partisan political redistricting. It was the easiest way for the governator to use his second-hand legislative stooges to "suggest" 3 qualified judges to do the job. Who do you think most judges owe their jobs to? the legislators and the governor. How more incestuous does it have to be , aloofman, for you to see that this IS NOT a solution? I dont have to make shit up, Ahhhhnold does it all for us. Just as when he directed his GAWD awful movies. In any event, we girlymen of the California Teachers' association whipped his ass.

WE SHALL DO SO AGAIN NEXT NOVEMBER! you read it here first.:D

Spoken like someone whose lobbyists have bought the California Democratic Party and preserve the crappy status quo.

On the contrary, Arnie has long known what his strengths were, and he knows that serious acting isn't among them. He pursued the action-hero path very deliberately. I'm not defending him or anything, just to say that he IS a self-made man, and he has a very good idea of why people laugh at him.

Thank god somebody has amassed enough money and power to stand up to the governator and those he represents (the ones who have bought the california republican party). It's the only chance working people have to maintain a moderately decent standard of living here.

No one ever described the austrian oak as being a comparable Sir Laurence Olivier actor, or even a Clint Eastwood Director, but that doesn't mean he never could've realized that potential if given the chance. And by the way, If I remember correctly, and 90% of the time I do, Arnie did direct a movie not involving him. A christmas movie made for tv, if I 'm not mistaken.

and Arnold doesnt do either one very well. and no, we arent here to preserve the crappy status quo, but rather to change it. For those of you who dont follow such things, the California Teachers association invests huge amounts of money to improve teacher training and student curriculum every year. The crappy status quo is preserved by Arnold, in conjunction with Bush, to force teachers to provide fewer services, less options and imported teachers from outside the US who will work for lowest salary scale available.

that is not reform, folks. that is turning education in the US into a third -world job. AND WE WILL NOT ALLOW IT!

For the most part, we in California DO preserve the status quo. We elect and reelect Demmocrats to our legislature who represent the values of a majority of the voters.

Here in California, the status quo is:
Freedom of choice, women's rights, civil rights, gay rights, gun control, support of nurses and teachers and environmental protections. We have made it mandatory that a certain percentage of the annual budget has to go to schools.

I don't know how we keep getting Republican governors. Luckily, our Democratic legislature is there to keep the governor in check.

Arnold made the mistake of believing that he could bypass the legislature, go to the ballot box, and get the voters to pass his initiatives. It must have been a really rude awakening for him when we voted down every one of them.

A lot of CA Republicans were expecting 73 and 75 to narrowly pass, as they were winning late into the night. It wasnt until pretty late that it became clear they were going down.

Proposition 73: Minor's pregnancy

Yes 48.2
No 51.8

Proposition 75: Public union dues

Yes 48.1
No 51.9

Pretty close. Teachers and labor unions mobilized in terms of advertising, and as voting blocs to protect themselves. Politicians did the same for 77 (Dems and Republicans were against that one). Obviously I wasn't expecting different.

I fully expected 73 and 75 to fail well before midnight. I remember at some point they were both passing 52-48 or so, and then I checked the country results. San Diego and Orange County were reporting about 35-40% of their precincts and Los Angeles was only reporting 2%.

I knew L.A. County would carry those 2 props to defeat, and I slept soundly that night. When I woke up and read the news next morning, sure enough L.A. County had provided most of the margin of victory (victory meaning NO on both props).

****Also, your numbers are wrong, 73 and 75 weren't quite that close. The NO votes were 52.8% and 53.5% respectively

according to the president, 51% is a mandate. So naturally, 52.8% is some kind of super-ultra-deluxe mandate.
