The President has the absolute right to pardon Joe Arpaio. And each of us has the absolute right to judge him for it--and remember it. Every elected Republican now owns this decision.

No, Donald Trump owns that decision, not the republican elected to the School Board, or any other for that matter. Many republicans disagree but the Constitution is quite clear with regard to his power to pardon.

What good masturbation fodder for you. I swear, the people who wrote that article must have gone to the Industrialsize School for Advanced Legal Studies.

The author of this silliness is "LeftOfYou" on The Daily Kos. That's really all one needs to know.

Each elected Republican will own this decision until they go on the record that they are against it.

Did you read it?

The author of this silliness is "LeftOfYou" on The Daily Kos. That's really all one needs to know.

I looked at the author's credentials and venue in which published and decided that reading Mad Magazine might be more informative. You've heard of Wikipedia right?

Too fucking bad. Trump has the right to issue pardons. They can suck it.
Remember when Clinton pardoned Mark Rich???? I agree that it was a terrible pardon. THERE WERE HEARINGS ABOUT IT AFTER THE FACT:
Aides Say Clinton Ignored Pardon Advice

Three senior advisers to President Bill Clinton told a House panel today that they had emphatically urged him to reject the pardon application submitted by lawyers for Marc Rich but had been overruled by Mr. Clinton, who decided to grant the pardon on his last night in office.

The aides, John D. Podesta, Mr. Clinton's chief of staff; Beth Nolan, a White House counsel; and Bruce R. Lindsey, a deputy White House counsel, said Mr. Rich did not deserve a pardon. They said they presented their views to Mr. Clinton at two meetings, on Jan. 16 and again on Jan. 19, shortly before Mr. Clinton decided to grant pardons to Mr. Rich and his commodities trading partner, Pincus Green.

Of course they said that, it was likely even true. But that does not change the fact that the president has the authority, end of story. They can have hearings, a concert or a séance if they want to but short of impeachment they can't even punish him, let alone undo the pardon. It's all a publicity stunt to play to their base.

Misuse of the Presidential Pardon Power can be considered and "abuse of power" which was part of both the articles of impeachment fro Nixon and Clinton. A public hearing by congress could make that determination. But you would know that if you read my link.

Blinded by your bias, it shows over and over.

Or maybe you didn't understand my post, I think I said precisely that - impeachment is the only recourse for punishing the president at this point. However, it's not clear (at least to me) that even impeachment would reverse the pardon.

I never said it would.

All right, I went and read this bullshit.

"The Ninth Circuit might see the pardon as an assault by the President on the very institution of the judiciary."

By the author's illogic, all pardons might be seen as an assault...on the judiciary. Now I need more caffeine.

Such an honorable man:

Ariz. sheriff backtracks on praise for KKK
Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who has been accused of being prejudiced, said he no longer considers comparisons to the Ku Klux Klan "an honor."

Arpaio said the statement about immigrants was taken out of context, adding that if a person were to cross the U.S.-Mexico border on foot over four days in the desert that person “could be dirty. That’s the context on how I used that word.”

He also was asked about a 2007 appearance on a national cable television news show. CNN host Lou Dobbs spoke with Arpaio at the time about comparisons between his department and the KKK, about which the sheriff said, “I think it’s an honor. It means we are doing something.”
