Shane van Gisbergen has been hit with a 25-point penalty after unloading David Reynolds in yesterday’s race at the WD-40 Phillip Island SuperSprint.

Reynolds was fuming about the contact, saying the Kiwi was ‘dead to him’ after being pitched out of fourth place and contention for big Championship points.

Van Gisbergen posted about the incident on social media last night, though the Stewards’ officially confirmed the penalty this morning.

Michael Clarke should emulate Richie McCaw: former Aussie coach John Buchanan
|
i.stuff.co.nz: Buchanan cites McCaw as example

13200366.jpg
Former World Cup-winning Australian cricket coach John Buchanan has praised the leadership style of Richie McCaw.

Former Australian cricket coach John Buchanan has responded to the criticism from recently retired captain Michael Clarke, urging the former skipper to grow his leadership skills and emulate sportsmen like recently retired All Blacks captain Richie McCaw.

Buchanan, who presided over Australia's most successful era between 1999 and 2007, was subtle but pointed in an entry on his coaching website on Saturday.

He was responding to Clarke's book, in which Clarke had suggested that his dog Jerry could have coached Australia to success during the time of Buchanan's reign, such was the strength of the team at the time.

Clarke had also hit out at former teammates Andrew Symonds and Matthew Hayden in the book - Ashes Diary 2015 - released last week.

In a measured response, Buchanan both defended himself, and tried to steer Clarke towards personal improvement, notwithstanding the fact that Clarke, 34, is no longer an international cricketer.

Australia takes opening day honours in historic Test

Australia dismisses New Zealand for 202 before losing two wickets in the first-ever night session of cricket in the historic third Test in Adelaide.

But the Victorian was delighted to be back, whatever the circumstances, and sealed his return with his 200th Test wicket. Siddle may be best remembered for having Kevin Pietersen caught in his leg-side trap at midwicket, and he raised the milestone in the same fashion via Doug Bracewell and Joe Burns.

Shane Warne charity under fire

12:15am | Shane Warne's personal charity donated just 11 cents of every dollar raised to sick and needy in 2014 despite vastly different claims.

The Shane Warne Foundation tried to have its records declared confidential by the national charity regulator under a federal law that has been used to protect the safety of family violence charities.
It's one in a series of measures taken to avoid public scrutiny of the cricketing legend's personal charity, now being investigated by Victoria's consumer watchdog over its accounting practices.
The probe comes as the foundation has been overstating its current financial position in a bid to counter negative publicity about its practice of donating just 16¢ of every dollar raised on behalf of charities that care for sick and underprivileged children.
