What's the meaning behind the slur " cracker ".
This term is said to have originated in England before the 16th century, refering to the lower class whose diet primarily consisted of "crackers", actually biscuits. Many of their descendants were sent to the Georgia penal colony, hence "Georgia crackers." White people had invented this name for themselves before the first slave was brought to America, although it is still in use today by mostly older blacks referring to whites. Was probably redefined in the days of American slavery by the slavemaster's "Crack" of the whip.

cool thanks, I know how rough detroit, and the such places can be but drug fights ain't got nothing on machete massacres or ethiopian rock fights. The stories Ive heard would make Ice-T sour.

Yah, I'm from the Detroit area, and rough as downtown is, it's definitely nothing on those. But as far as areas in 1st world countries go Detroit is one hell of a hellhole. Sure, areas of every major city are rough and poor, but Detroit's reputation is not unwarranted.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_cities_by_crime_rate

Makin me proud

EDIT: I should rephrase, Downtown Detroit is actually rather nice, and relatively safe, even nationally. By downtown I meant the city proper, as the metro area is huge and quite spread out.

Oh, but my answer is wrong?? I imagine that less educated members of the society use the term cuz of the correlation of skin-color. U guys gotta stop thinkin that everyone is as educated as you are. If they were, hell, this world would be a Twilight Zone compared to what it is now.

OK and here I was thinking it was rapid weight gain...:biggrin1:
Stretch marks can also be caused by growing up not out. I've had them since the year I grew 6 inches in one summer.

NJ, when will I find love? Sorry, I'd ask Miss Cleo but I think she's still locked up.
Marley dear, as you know God's time isn't always our time. Sometimes you have to kiss a whole lot of frogs before you meet your handsome Prince.

But I mean, damn, how many is a whole lot? I'm starting to think that "men" don't exist, only frogs.

:lmao: As am I Marley. Trust me, this business of waiting patiently on the Lord to send the right man is begining to pluck my last nerve. :12: I have thrown myself into my work, done charity work, taken up yoga and kickboxing to enhance my life so I wouldn't be constantly on the prowl, and all I got was more flexibility and some muscle tone. Okay those aren't bad things; but I am tired of people saying it will happen when you least expect it.

AMEN GURL!!! I wouldn't mind the frogs if they TOLD me they were frogs, but they put on a crown and a cape and try to convince me that they're princes. Sometimes I fall for it.

I got hit on by a sexy black woman today she was soooo dark I just wanted to bite her ( in a good way). The only women that hit on me are black women and middle aged white women. I love it, black women hit on me all the time. So I don't know how all these guys here are talking about "How do I approach a black woman?"

Don't bite her...unless she is Grace Jones. Biting is frenchkissing to Grace Jones.:biggrin1:

But then there is a dilemma though...questions to ponder...

(I am not shouting the forthcoming insight. I just thought it looked better in capital letters.)

WHAT IF THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS THE RIGHT PERSON FOR SOMEONE? WHAT IF EVERYONE HAS ISSUES? THEN WHAT? ARE PEOPLE NOT WORTHY OF BEING LOVED BECAUSE THEY HAVE ISSUES? EVERY PERSON YOU MEET HAS THEIR OWN CROSSES TO BEAR.

Must Jesus Bear The Cross alone and all the world go free? No There's A Cross For Everyone.

Wow, great way to make "having standards" sound irrational and judgmental. You're right, I'm unrealistic in my desires and am searching for a perfect adonis.

Painful as this might sound, one has to look at what he or she brings to the table and adjust ones expectations accordingly. Attraction is not a one way thing, the other person has to see something just as fabulous in you. Oh, and mama's assessment doesn't count. Remember she has a vested interest. Most people are not sitting around waiting to be your fairy godmother or father. They are looking for the best bargain themselves. When it comes to finding that one, people tend to be ruthlessly picky. In fact many live by this credo, "I may be so so, but you better be damned near perfect". You can hold on to your perfect standard, but remember that you too will be judged by that same yardstick.

HA! Looking for something fabolous in me? That's easier than a Easter egg hunt in an empty parking lot.

I know, that's not what I'm looking for either.

Not Marley, I've loved em all. Young, old, chubby, uber-skinny, thugs, gents, (even had a redneck once).

In fact many live by this credo, "I may be so so, but you better be damned near perfect".
Again, not Marley. If I ever find someone who seems perfect, I'm runnin' in the other direction cuz the more perfect they seem, the more issues they probbaly have. I want someone who's as real as I am, so I'll always know where we stand. I've had some great relationships that didn't last, but ended mutually with no casualties cuz we were both honest with one another, that's really what I'm lookin' for. I'm not definitely not starry-eyed looking for "forever" or perfection, I leave that for the LLama Beans and the teeny boppers.

Well then, there may be hope for you after all. You would be surprised how many people do have this mindset, however. THen they wonder why they are sitting all alone.
