and the Beluah Show--I don't know if I spelled that right. I never saw that. I was overseas at the time. It starred Hattie McDaniels.

and the other...used to be drubbed down by blacks when it was a radio show, because all the actors were white.

When it showed up as a TV show, they did employ black actors. What I failed to understand was why it brought more groans--aside from the Kingfish character, who was always going for a "easy buck". They had black policeman. They had black lawyers. The judges on the show were black. The people related to themselves with each other, and each other was black.

My parents did not dig me that I liked the show. I was supposed to tune into HUCKLEBERRY HOUND, which was trash animation.

The black TV barrier was broken by two shows in the 60's : "JULIA" and STAR TREK.

I watched both, but STAR TREK was the first real show that employed minority actors in such a way it didn't matter. Everyone was there for everyone else. JULIA remains a small memory because it was so ordinary.

I had a friend and she said that "STAR TREK was my hope and opening to the world." She was a decade younger than I, and she missed my references to shows like THE OUTER LIMITS or THE TWILIGHT ZONE. Hearing of AMOS AND ANDY was a question, as was a question or two toward Stephin Fetchit.

And STAR TREK remains a good place to understand that differences may matter in various ways, but we can all help one another.

Im wondering if you think there is a double standard regarding "black" specific music actor / academy awards, TV networks, etc..... do you think that if one wants to be seen for their societal contributions and character, and not the color of their skin, the need to separate themselves in this way only shows their unwillingness to do so?

No one said it per se, it's a pretty widely accepted statistic that over 90% of black children are born out of wedlock in this country (US). I guess me bringing it up is being racist, but staying quiet about it surely doesn't change anything for the better.

My point was with a number that staggeringly high, obviously those people who are teaching their children that oral sex makes one a whore at least are somewhat aware of this 'problem' regarding children born out of wedlock, and I was wondering how they'd explain that. I put 'problem' in quotes because there are many left-leaning political advocates who see this as a good thing, children being born out of wedlock breaks the family structure, making the state the new 'family' so to speak, making it easier for an eventual move to socialism.

Well in teh interest of common sense, statistics never tell the whole story. True though, alot of black children are born to parentss who weren't even married on teh first place.

So maybe 70 % of black children in that study were born out of wedlock. That doesn't mean 70 % of all black children in teh US are born out of wedlock.
