I somewhat disagree. I always tip 15% in a restaurant, 20% for excellent service. Having worked in a restaurant as a cashier not a waitress. I know how important tips are. If the service is adequate, but the food poor I will tip 15% and ask to speak to the manager and explain the food issue.

If the food is good but the service is poor I have been known to tip only 10% and then I detail the problems in service to the manager.

The only time I send food back is if my meat is undercooked ( I prefer steaks and burgers MW), or if they totally got the order wrong.

When I was traveling on the company dime adequate to good service was tipped 15%-20% and exemplary service was 20%-25%. Alas that job is gone. :frown1:
